Well hello big fellow

Jeff in TXJeff in TX Posts: 2,641 Senior Member
It's been a week plus and this big boy is calling the ranch home. I've see him on seven different cameras each day for the past week. I've set a date up with him for opening day of bow season! Hopefully he'll continue to call my place home! Normally we'd give him one more year. He's got a few buddies that definitely need one more year! The upcoming season is looking better!

That is one fine deer. I would have a difficult time saying wait till next year.

What's the likelihood of someone else killing him if you don't? That's DNA you want to propagate, fo sho.

Its a very high possibility someone will take him, that's why I set a date up with him for opening day of bow season! If my knucklehead neighbor hadn't put the high fence behind me I'd wait one more year. However, after last years disastrous season without seeing any real quality bucks, he's fair game!

Your lucky, "wait a year" is not in our vocabulary in Northern MN, we see a buck like that rarely any time of the year.

A deer like that is on everybody's list for sure, however, in my experience deer like that disappear come opening day. If you had 3000 acres fenced in I'd say leave him another year, but in your case I'd shoot that dude on sight.
