Wood pigeon season started today Finland's hunting season

Today it started. Hunting season. First is the pigeons followed with waterfowl season on 20th of August. And after that starts long awaited deer season.
We had very high winds today from the sea. ( I live by the sea...) so the pigeons flew very high and very fast. Still I managed to get two. Kill ratio was about the same as in Vietnam war: About 50 thousand rounds per kill. Bummer.
But, it was nice to hunt again. Tomorrow my 10 weeks long summer vacation ends and I have to go to work. But maybe I'll get some more next weekend.

Looks like a great time. Our mourning dove seasons are starting very soon here in the states. You just reminded me that it's time to start practicing.

I don't get a good feeling for the size looking at the pics but they look like a cross between our Mourning Doves and a regular pigeon.

The dove season opener in Tennessee is traditionally 12:00 Noon on September 1st. regardless of the day of the week it happens to be. After opening day shooting time is sunrise to sundown. I learned how to save ammo on a dove hunt- - - -swing the empty gun and yell "BANG!"- - - -my hit to miss ratio comes out about the same!

Our dove season here opens I think the first weekend in September. If I had a place to go this year I'd take my sweet 16 Browning A-5.
