HR 38/SB 446 national reciprocity

HR 38/SB 446 the national CCW reciprocity bills are going to be up for debate/vote in congress in September. Everyone and their friends ,relatives ect. needs to contact their Congressman/Senators and have them vote for them and keep out any junk that will hurt gun ownership. This may be the only chance we have to get it past
so we need to go all out on this one.

Meanwhile the usual suspect are opposing it Blasio of NYC and Emmanuel of Chicago. Some PRC police chief are against it. Note: The mayors of NYC and Chicago both go around with almost Presidential level security and after they leave office they still get police protection!?

Contacted my Congresscritters but don't expect much on the Senate side from the two senators from TN. They're kind of wishy-washy. The House member in my district is a solid vote on gun related stuff. I think he'll try to do the right thing.

Thanks for the notice on this. This would be huge, and since - according to the press coverage - Congress isn't doing anything anyway, now would be a great time for them to do "nothing" and get this passed while the press is busy salivating over President Trump's every move.

It won't happen. RINO snowflakes will use the opportunity to vote against it to further distance themselves from the President.

    So it's useless to try?

Of course not! Always try! Try hard! And if first we don't succeed, try, try again! Start by defeating RINOs and nominating patriots in the upcoming primaries before the 2018 general election. In my case, here in AZ, I'm a volunteer in Dr. Kelli Ward's campaign to replace Senator Jeff Flake. She's a bona fide conservative. Yessiree, I'm trying!

However, regarding HR38/SB446, don't expect a miracle this first time around with the losers we have running the Congress. Just sayin'.

I'm concerned about what will end up in the bills to placate dems and rinos. I can see insurance policies, mandatory LEO declarations, and conformity with state laws; 10 round mags, for example.

I've contacted my reps and stressed the need for clean bills. If there are negative riders, both need to die before passage.

I'm not a fan, for the reasons Califfl posted and others. Even if this goes EXACTLY how you and I would choose, and is a "clean" bill, this is still giving Uncle more power over the states. I'm sorry, but Uncle shouldn't have ANY power over the states, except to ensure a citizen's rights haven't been violated. Allowing this bill would (IMO) weaken gun rights by homogenizing the entire country into a "One size fits all" approach to exercising your 2A right. Anybody care to guess which states are going to get to choose which "size" will be applied? I can virtually guarantee you won't be happy with the picks. Most here will say they like how things are done in their state... not all, but most. Well, your state isn't going to be allowed to have any say in the matter, and for that very reason. We've seen too much "pass it to see what's in it" these past few years, don't believe for one second that any self loving gun hater will let a "clean" version of this bill sail through without a fight to the death. This bill will never pass "clean" because then you could force California (a state with many onerous requirements) to allow people from Vermont (a state with very few requirements of any sort) to carry in their state. Never gonna happen. Now, what I do see happening is Vermont and the other 48 states being required to use "common sense" measures by adopting California's restrictions... you know, in the name of safety and kindness to your fellow man. I can see that plain as day. Does that mean this is what WILL happen? No, but I will say that we all need to check over this gift horse VERY carefully...

Is there a law that says states have to honor other states drivers license?

No there isn't. It is implied...

I'm all for states' rights when the federal government is the oppressor, but when the states are the villains, as CA, MD, IL, NJ, NY, MA, CN and WA are, I'm with the feds. The states' rights vs. federal power is a political Ford vs Chevy, and each and every situation must be evaluated individually - truly on a case-by-case basis. Right now, regarding concealed carry reciprocity, it's a handful of states that are the bad guys, with the feds debating a workable solution.

Yes, the National Reciprocity bill isn't perfect - it provides that travelers will have to obey local laws when carrying concealed, and yes that will still be a pain-in-the-ass over issues like magazine capacity, when and where allowed, stand-your-ground vs. obligation-to-retreat, and so forth, but it is undeniably an improvement over the haphazard legal goulash we face today, where just crossing some state lines with a gun can land you in prison for years.

The fatal flaw of conservatism is its impatience. The Left is content to advance its agenda incrementally - "2 steps forward 1 step back" works for them. But the Right repeatedly shoots itself in the foot by making the perfect the enemy of the good. A candidate isn't ideologically pure, so conservatives stay home on election day. A bill isn't everything we want, all at once, right now, so we find fault and end up losing it altogether. Patience is a virtue, moderation in all things, good things come to those who wait. Time is on the side that knows best how to use it.

Take a page from the book of Ronaldus Magnus - a man who's with you 80% of the time is an ally not an enemy. Take the 80%...and work on the other 20% later. I support the Nat Rec bill. If nothing else, it sets up the "laboratory of the states," and that great experiment will prove that people who carry aren't the problem. That fact alone will impress lots of voters, and that might convince some legislators and governors to positively modify their states' anti-gun laws on their own.

I hate to pee in everyone's cornflakes, but the Tweeter in Chief/Bill Signer in Chief never mentioned this or the hearing protection legislation. It just doesn't seem to matter to him. If I am wrong, please correct me. His personal priorities seem (to me) to be more about himself than the business of the people.

My Democrat congressman, Dan Kildee invented the Land Bank concept years ago. It has really helped our screwed up community of Flint, Michigan and is making a big difference in Detroit-- it actually is stopping the bleeding of our communities! I grudgingly support him and am very critical of his Democratic partisan crap-- I do what I can. Senators? While being an enthusiastic supporter of Donald Trump makes me automatically assume that a person has poor judgement, I am going to give Robert Ritchie a pass. He is running for senator against Debbie Stabenow in Michigan next year. He has been honored by the NAACP Detroit chapter, and has a local reputation as a very down to earth, stand up guy.

I will support Ritchie and he will support this legislation. I will urge Kildee to do the same. Senator Gary Peters? I can send him something, but I am probably wasting my time. I doubt our president gives a crap-- he just said he supports 2A to get your vote. He cares only about himself.

Just look at the motorcycle helmet laws and you'll realize that states "don't have to" loose control. When I decide to ride through states that require a helmet, I wear one. In the same way, if I carried in a state that restricted magazine capacity to 10 rounds, I would switch to a low capacity mag and still be able to defend myself or not get arrested for just transitioning through with my handgun. Compromising a little on our end gets the bills passed and then we can work on the idiocy of restrictions in states like CA, NY, NJ, CT, etc. etc. I believe in taking giant steps but if taking baby steps can save me a lot of grief and at the same time we can keep working on making our stride longer, I can live with that.

It's high time real Americans adopt the dummycraps' "nose under the tent flap" approach to these things. An initial step might not be perfect, but insistence on ideologological purity for every attempt to pass legislation is a fools' mission and guarantees nothing will ever get accomplished other than giving the ideologues something else to bitch about.

If it passes, I'm happy to sell you my California magazines. I have a few ten rounders in G19 & 22, XD45, Mini-14, and maybe a couple more. I can't give the things away!

Glad to be of help informing you all.

The hearing protection act will also be up for debate later this month

We do have some advantages this time around there are Republicans who are worried they might get shot by Antifa and there are democrats who are worried that Alt-Right might shoot them. So they might be interested in being able to carry concealed in order to save their behinds.

The same people in NYS who complain about people with CCWs need to remember Donald Trump had a near impossible to get NYC CCW! for many years and nobody complained about this. I would also like to point out that Trumps two oldest sons are avid hunters and gun owners. national reciprocity would make their lives easier and also keep them out of jail if they take a wrong turn ect.

If the Conservative Congresscritters are smart like a fox then they will put the reciprocity bill AND the HPA bill on as riders on the upcoming budget bill. The Democrats are having a hissy fit over the budget, anyway, so make 'em choke down a dose of medicine to get it passed. And throw in the border wall to make 'em squeal like the little pork barrel pigs that they are!

As long as the RINO's can sing the "castrato" parts in the church choir, that ain't gonna happen. The vast majority of the career "republicans" haven't got enough testosterone among the whole bunch to make even one of their flagpoles stand up and get a salute!

Yeah, when the Speaker of the House is a fanboy for ANTIFA, that isn't a good sign.

Other things I have found out it seems since trump got elected many Blacks and Liberals are buying firearms! Some in the news media say the US might have a low level civil war. I should point out there are a lot of gun owners out there who are "upset" by gun laws passed in a high handed manner like the (Un)Safe act. I have also heard in NYC about once a week a out of town gun owner gets arrested in NYC because he or she didn't realize that they are breaking NYC gun laws by brings their legally owned firearms into NYC.

On the BATFE wiki page it points out about 75% of all the people the BATFE arrests have no criminal record. I should also point out have no criminal intent and most don't realize they are breaking the law! one wonders why many gun owners don't like this agency.

Well this Las vegas shooting looks like it killed this bill and the Share act. I though possibly something like this might kill it but I didn't think it would be this bad.
