Kudos to Trump
It isn't a secret that I am extremely critical of the guy. I got to give the man some credit for this one though. He got a lot of heat for doing this and the easy thing would have been to cancel or avoid the situation entirely. I think it is very important for Republicans to reach out and acknowledge the sacrifices and achievements of civil rights in this country. Keeping it as a "black thing" does nothing to unite us all as Americans. Good job, Trump!

People like me that weren't born yet or not yet of age owe it to themselves to learn. It is good on Trump.
Wasn't he given a medal to commemorate his efforts for that at the same time as Rosa Parks?
Yet we have so-called "civil rights leaders" boycotting the ceremony because of anti-Trump politics. My name for them would be A-Holes!
FIFY
I think most of the original civil rights leaders, just wanted everyone to have an equal chance. I think MLK, even though he had human faults, had his heart in the right place. Very much different than Al Sharpton and those like him that are in it for the glamour and money.
I would be meeting with David Duke if it meant the possibility of advancing civil rights. No doubt, Trump is tone deaf on the issue and ignorant to many nuances that get some people riled up, but he is one of the few "conservative" politicians that I have seen make a real effort to reach out. When someone is reaching out like that, you take that hand. Wallowing in hatred is going to get none of us anywhere.
Definitely agree. Due respect, Lewis is nothing more than a tool now.
If you notice most of the complainers were Dummycrapic leaders of today. This wasn't about the Civil Rights struggle, It was about Politics plain and simple. Trump did as he should as President. The Civil Rights struggle involved the whole Nation, and Trump IS the president of the WHOLE NATION.

Well said Jeremy.
