Cost of CCW Permit in Kommiefornia

Been carrying for years but friends have encouraged me to become "legal" as if I need a license to practice a Constitutional Right. Grrr, Well it seems the powers that be wish to discourage poor people from becoming legit. $100 county fee, $50-75 for Live Fingerprint scan, $175-250 for 8 hour training course plus range fees $325 to $425 investment. Outrageous. What gets me is the training isn't a set price. It seems the trainers got together and raised the cost a few years ago from $90-125 dollars to what they can scalp the public for today. State of Kommifornia does not regulate training costs. And its good for, wait, ONE STATE. Nevada and Florida and I'm good for over 35. Revolvers are good CCW, no casings left behind and no need to file paperwork...in theory. $425 gets me another pocket protector!

At least you're not in Monterey county, where they make you take a psych test ($250 I think), and far worse - interview YOUR NEIGHBORS!!!!!

You left out Sister Despoilers and Illegal Plunderers as part of a well rounded profile. They take that stuff serious over here in CaliFerno.

Don't laugh, I actually thought about playing that card - but then I knew I was getting out of the state anyway. I think they interview your co-workers too.

I think my renewal is 35.00 and good for seven years so that's five bucks a year.

Sadly I can get a Florida and Utah non-resident for under $40.00 and those cover me for almost every state outside of Kommiefornia to Florida!

Might need a psych test to pay CA fees. Probably better than going to jail

That's OK, California was pretty much one season as well. Florida wouldn't have been my first choice, but its far from my last! I'm content.

Interestingly, if you are a CA resident your Florida and Utah non-resident permits won't fly in Michigan.....your permit must be issued by the state in which you reside to be valid..a little hitch in the law that's not commonly known....

There are quite a few states who don’t accept non-resident FL or UT CHPs ... South Carolina is one around here.

Truth is, a psych test is warranted just for deliberately living in CA. Might wanna take one if you're in NJ, NY, IL, MA, MD, CT, WA or DC as well. Whatever the shrink tells you, the cure is clear - effing move! To a free state! Like AZ, where CCW is free. Like it should be. As God meant it to be. Via con Dios.

There are quite a few states that are so politically driven that I won’t do internet sales with their residents. I got burned on gunbroker by a FFL in DC and learned my lesson. Long story but I got the gun back and was only out shipping fees.

Just renewed mine, it was $40. Our governor was instrumental in lowering fees.

Pensacola isn't really Florida. We call it LA (Lower Alabama).

Nope, SC is twitchy about Reciprocity ... in fact they don’t accept NV resident CHPs. SLED (South Carolina Law Enforcement Division) requires about the same training as NC so there is Reciprocity but because of the requirements in AL not being “up to” SLED’s they don’t honor any AL CHPs. For a southern state SC is funny on the whole Concealed Carry thing ... even to what makes a legal No Firearms Allowed sign kinda like Texas.

No wonder so many carry illegally in CA - a felony charge is probably less aggravating.

Here in Ia. if you don't renew more than 30 days in advance you have to take classes & shoot again like you never had a permit. I just went through that money grabbing game. I told them why didn't they send out a notice of the law change the reply was the onice was on you to keep up with the law changes.
Heard 2 new words that day onice & keyosck can't spell them & no idea what they meant.

Holy crap. That seems unconstitutional. I checked it out and they also do a home visit, and interview where they may submit you to a Truth Verification exam (polygraph?), and a medical evaluation. https://www.montereysheriff.org/ccw/ccw-procedures/

The neighbor/co-worker interviews are . If any of them has a personal problem with you, or just doesn't think anyone should own a gun, you're hosed.

Onus: means "Burden" The burden is on you to keep up with law changes. It's your problem not theirs.

    Kiosk:
1 : a small structure with one or more open sides that is used to vend merchandise (such as newspapers) or services (such as film developing)
2 : a small stand-alone device providing information and services on a computer screen.

Not to long ago we would've just said "It's your problem" and "little booth" but folks wanna be fancy these days. They sound more edumacated.
