Where are the protest that "More than 50,000 Americans died from drug overdoses last year, the highest figure ever"?

Maybe some of these Students should protest the use of drugs that are killing more that all Mass Shootings ever.

but, but, but, they don't get the "warm fuzzies" for helping progress the liberal agenda calling for drug control (or drunk drivers, or obesity)

    https://www.usnews.com/news/articles/2016-05-03/medical-errors-are-third-leading-cause-of-death-in-the-us

Medical errors are the third leading cause of death in the U.S., after heart disease and cancer, causing at least 250,000 deaths every year, according to an analysis out Tuesday indicating that patient safety efforts fall far short.

The Hopkins team used evidence from four studies that analyzed medical death rate data from 2000 to 2008, including one by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Office of the Inspector General and the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality. Using these data, they were able to calculate a mean death rate for medical errors in U.S. hospitals. Applying this rate to the 35 million admissions in 2013, they calculated that 251,454 deaths resulted from medical mistakes.

Seems to me that death by doctor is more of a concern than death by firearm. Sayin'.

Legalize pot- - - -there just aren't enough people dying of legal tobacco and alcohol abuse- - - -we need a few thousand more casualties to keep the population from exploding! Doctors have gotten far too good at preventing what Malaria, TB, Bubonic Plague, Flu, Pneumonia, Gangrene, and a few other mass casualty diseases used to do.

How many DUIs result in innocent deaths? Way more than ARs kill.

They're not talking about it because drug abuse is a disease......like the common cold but it makes you snort oxycontin and steal stuff from your loved ones....

Labeling drug abuse as a disease just kicks in federal funds to 'fight' the disease. It's a designation to milk the cash cow, nothing more nor less.

Drugs are already taken care of, there are laws to deal with that. Now guns, we need some laws to deal with those!

These kids have tiny undeveloped Millennial brains that have been tainted with liberal BS telling them that their safe space is in danger because of guns

The problem isn’t drugs, guns, alcohol, or cars: it’s overpopulation. The more the people, the greater the statistic becomes. None of it will ever end unless the bubonic plague occurs again.

Ummmm..............that's mostly because sober drivers outnumber drunk drivers by millions to one. So statistically, you'd be correct. :tooth:

Teach and FFLshooter both make good points (posts 9 and 17). The human population took all the time from Olduvai Gorge to tabout the 20th century to hit the One Billion mark, and we went from there to SEVEN billion in the last 100 years. In all that time, the Plague was the only thing that even made a SLIGHT downward dip. WWI and the Spanish influenza epidemic didn't; WWII didn't; Stalin and Mao's purges didn't; drugs and guns sure aren't gonna do it; and we seem to be doing everything possible to ensure that those who would have naturally been thinned by leopards and crocs live long enough to breed more of the same.

Maybe it's odd to talk of one's own species in the same terms as feral hogs and Eastern whitetail, but DAMN! If we ever DO get an effective safety valve to keep things in check, it ain't gonna be pretty when it opens.

1936, the end of public executions. 1962, the end of prayer in public schools. We have been sliding down the slop ever since.

And mass shootings are so random statistics are worthless for predicting them. As far as Nickolas Cruz. Based on concerns (especially from teenage peers who sometimes use this for revenge) and a photo posted on social media with his orange muzzled Airsoft pistol. I'm not exactly shocked the FBI did not commit resources to a full scale investigation! I wonder if mass shooting of random innocent people were made an act of domestic terrorism it would help elevate priorities.

Nope. I've been saying for years that "the balance" is WAAAAAY off. When it rights itself, and it WILL, its gonna be ugly.
