    Property.  I have a cellular camera up there, and am collecting all the pictures of cows.

    One down and two to go!

    Got home from work last night about 0100 and scattered the bandits from the feeder.

    I’d set the trap a week ago and they just go in, reach over the pressure plate, and steal the bait without setting the trap off.

    So, last night I sat in the dark living room watching the feeder until the raccoons came back.  Grabbed the .22lr and slipped out the back door. Crawled around the side of the house and up to the front fence. Put the barrel through the fence and waited for them to present a shot. With the trap in place, it blocked my shot from my position. So, I had to wait for one to stand up like this.......

    To look over the trap.......and I shot’em in the face!

    Two more to go.
    I’ve moved the trap now to present a clear shot.

    Remember- Nature abhors a vacuum.  More raccoons (or another pest) will move in when you get rid of them all.

    Yeah. It’s inevitable. Hell, 30min later I saw a skunk walk under the feeder. Decided not to go out and shoot him. 😎

    You seem to be doing pretty good at taking them out the fun way.

    But if you haven't tried, I've had some luck with live traps by placing the bait under the trap. If need be, you can stake the trap down with tent stakes. That way they have to go in the trap and try to reach through or around the trap pressure plate to get to the bait. It's worked for me in the past.

    Edit - One of my cousins owns a live animal trap company. Directly from their website;

    BAITING THE TRAPS

    To bait the traps place the bait on the ground, then place the trap on the ground with the foot pedal directly over the bait.

    The only thing I know from talking to guys that have hunted them is to not take your retriever on the hunt...a wounded Sandhill is entirely capable of killing your dog with that beak...
