What a nice refreshing Royal Wedding

Big ChiefBig Chief Posts: 32,995 Senior Member
Although I'm not usually that interested in Royal Weddings I really enjoyed watching this one and wish them both a long and happy marriage.

It was unconventional and not traditional in some ways and brought American and British cultures together in a positive way.

There is little on this planet that I could care less about. Their celebrity status is based entirely on who the groom's parents are and either the entire country is obsessed with the event or the media outlets are making it look that way.

Other than politics, nothing annoys me more than the medias ad nauseam coverage of British royalty and pandas!

I wonder what Zorba wore while he watched it!:)

Yes, I know all the pomp and circumstance is not appreciated on this side of the pond as much.

This wedding was different in a lot of ways, a breath of fresh air so to speak from the usual rigid and stuffy affairs, although there was plenty of that too.

I'm glad the Trump's, Obammy's or Clinton's weren't invited and the politics were left out.

Besides it took 24/7 news coverage of yesterdays tragic event in TX off the air for a while.

The message was Love and this world could use a lot more of it no matter how it is delivered.

Really liked the rendition of the Ben E. King song Stand By Me performed there too.

In in celebration of our forefathers making sure we did not care about royals, I’m having coffee in my “Don’t Tread on Me” mug, and will take the family shooting later

That's great for the wedded and family. But I didn't turn my tv on this morning to listen to these fools spew nonsense so rich it wouldn't belong in a vat of corn syrup.

" You’re a better man than I am, Gunga Din!" Big Chief,

I did not see any of it,

I was on hands and knees toiling under the hot sun (I know me station in life gov')

On the plus side I did snaffle some home-made scones, from the cream tea all was having but me.

I wish them long and happy lives, but for the life of me I can't understand the fascination with the royals, especially by Americans. After all, we had a big blowout in 1776 to get rid of them, didn't we?

Didn't see it. Not even sure I could have even if I wanted to - depends on who was broadcasting it.

Did they have lots of goofy hats?

    Rah Rah Lizzard Crappé ...

Reports said it cost around $45million ... 95% of which was security costs ... way to much. But at least the Royals are way more refined, proper and such than the crappy families the US worships ... the stupid Kerdashins and such??? It would have been funny if Henry had married one of the Kerdashin girls ... the Queen Mother would have had a heart attack ...

That would be  "Elizabeth Angela Marguerite Bowes-Lyon", the wife of King George VI and the mother of Queen Elizabeth II,

She died in the March of 2002.

Queen Elizabeth II is the Grandmother to the young Prince, The Duke of Sussex.

Trying to figure out the serial number for my pistol project. I'd need to buy some letter stamps though. I'd like it to start out with FYKG3.

I do perceive you are being awfully indelicate again

You should prefix any with a couple of noughts

You are going to make more than one, say what?

It's culture and history, though some go extreme on either end as in all things.

She also saves me from having an "el presidente" forced on me

All for the princely sum of 65p (88 cents) a year to me.

    All fed and shod.

Of all the royals, I have immense respect for Harry.....he's a warrior and the work he has done with and for wounded warriors is deserving of respect....I wish him and his new bride every happiness....

Didn't watch it. Hope they have a long and happy life together, and don't give the paparazzi any openings for those 'indelicate photos'. That mug is cute! Would be something to have and smile at down the road.

Odd carriage; the drivers are on the port side horses instead of driving from the front of the carriage. What is REALLY odd is that they are on the PORT SIDE horses. Don't all y'all over there drive from the STARBOARD SIDE? Weird.

Did Prince Harry’s father attend the wedding?

Somewhat of a contrivance that mate.
