Family members will be traveling to Atlanta area and were wondering if its legal for a unlicensed ( No CCW) person to gave a loaded hand gun in the vehicle. Does Georgia have Castle Doctrine/stand your ground laws.
Thanks in advance

So long as it's not in Lunging Distance.  Then it's considered carrying.  In your dash pocket, it's legal.   Like your house.

The other thing I'd say is make sure you park in a safe place.  Your gun might be a victim of theft.

In Georgia for Ga. residents your automobile is considered an extension of your home and same rules apply. You do not need  any permit to transport your weapon from home to car and from vehicle to business and back again. I carry mine in a zipper top bank bag. Not sure about of out of state residents. It's still better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6. Later,

Recoil is how you know primer ignition is complete.
