Today at Lowe's

I wanted to get a superior yardstick for measuring the barrels on my rifles.  The guy at Lowe's said they weren't making them any longer.

They still make them. Try Amazon, Walmart or office supply store.

Home Depot still has two kinds.

I have them more as the "deluxe ball getter outer" for balls that slide under the couch when the dog is playing.

I know most people don't like to go to Walmart for various reasons, but they have wooden yardsticks in the crafts and fabrics section of the store. Just look up long enough to find that section, then look at the floor until you get there, pick up the yardstick, and make haste to the checkout area.

I was in Staples a couple of weeks ago. They had wood, plastic, and metal yardsticks.

Why did you do that? You had a bunch on the hook.
Wrong, num nums. Question asked; question answered. If someone uses a yardstick to measure a barrel on a rifle, then that's their business. It's one way to measure a barrel, but it's the wrong way. The question was where to find a yardstick, most likely a wooden one, not the proper way to measure a barrel. You should know by now to ONLY answer the question asked; volunteering other information outside the question asked is the road to perdition, especially when talking to cops and other such people, and ESPECIALLY government people.

You can't make a yard stick any longer or is that a longer yard stick, it can be confusing if you think about it too long.

    Ummmm, you’re wrong.
He never asked a question.  He made a statement. You offered an answer to an unasked question!
    You're a government spy!
Question was implied, whether the OP meant for that to be, or not. You don't have enough experience talking to old folks. :D

Me, a government spy? Smiling tooth animated emoticon Well, bless your little pea pickin' heart! I've loved my country for a really long time, but I've hated the government for a lot longer. If the whole blasted government in D.C. dropped dead, then I'd be getting roaring drunk celebrating when I learned the news! Happy Jumping animated emoticon

    What was the question....
It's boring, and your lack of creativity knows no bounds.

I have a "yard stick" that is 4 feet long! Great big plastic thing I use for measuring and cutting fabric.

I have a 'yard stick' that I use to poke things that look suspicious in the yard. It's a round fiberglass rod 8 feet long x 1/2" diameter with a wood handle at one end and a nice stainless steel pointy sharp point on the other. Good for moving stuff that I don't want to touch and is an excellent deterrent for the occasional neighbors dog that decides that I might make a good chew toy. Crack them on the noggin with the pointy steel end and they seek chew toy happiness elsewhere. :D
