Ran into a snag with the PH Mauser. It has excessive headspace! I had the gunsmith check it on a whim and the bolt didn’t even slow down on the no go gauge, with 3 layers of tape it gave “some resistance.” So , that’s a hard pass! It would explain the bottom locking lug that was polished....... maybe that was an issuer there
Have your smith set the barrel back one thread and re-cut the chamber, but lap the bolt lugs into full contact first. It's not a difficult job, but it might not be cost-effective for a used rack rescue.

That’s what he said too, 4 months of waiting too! Oh well......
If you can't afford it right now just put it in the back of the safe and wait till the gun fund runnuth over. But setting it back like described won't cost that much and will give you a .30-06.
Daddy, what's an enabler?
Son that's somebody with nothing to do with his time but keep me in trouble with mom.
I know where you can get a M98 threaded 375" un chambered barrel, and 100 rounds of ammo for good price. Also happen to know a mauser specialist smith who has the reamer and works pretty cheap in colorado
Once again, please refrain from cutting short any baseless totally emotional arguments with facts. It leads to boring, completely objective conversations well beyond the comprehension ability of many.

Thanks, but the Mauser has gone to another guy...... a Mauser guy up north here. He did come back to the shop and said the magazine was bad too. He added new bottom metal.

"If you get it and didn't work for it, someone else worked for it and didn't get it..."
