I saw a show where they were hunting pigs with a pellet gun. Had to get pretty close but they were killing them.
As for what good is a PCC? They are just plain fun. You can shoot them all day for cheap and not get fatigued. You can hit 100 - 150 yrds with them and count the seconds til you hear the steel ring. Some places don't allow larger caliber rifles but will allow pistol calibers. It costs me 3 times as much in ammo cost to shoot a .223 match compared to a 9mm. I have an ATI Milsport AR9 which is currently my favorite gun to shoot. It's lighter than the Ruger by a little. Takes Glock mags. 4 33 round mags which I may get extensions for so I don't have to reload on most stages unless I miss a few. Also a hipoint which is fun too. Both function flawlessly.
For those that want mags for the Ruger, ETS 31 round mags work good and are half the price of Glock mags.
