The new .223 Rem is up and running!!

I found a good deal on a Remington 700 ADL Tactical in .223 Remington. Seeing as I had parts to make it more than it was.......I jumped.

24” Threaded Barrel
1-9” Twist
1Piece Base (Included)

Thats all I was after. The rest got ditched.

On hand, I had and added the following.

Magpul Hunter Stock
Ruger .223 Remington AICS Style Mag
Remington 40X Trigger DRT to 1.5lbs
Burris XTR Rings
Burris XTR II 4-20x50 Scope
Burris Scope Level
Surefire Brake
Kinetic Research Bolt Knob

    I LOVE IT.

Other than the bolt knob that looks like a shorn scrotum.

    That's very serious looking.

Maybe heavy enough to see impact through the scope?

That ability makes it easier for mediocre shots like me to dope wind.

    If I have enough ammo.

Went to the range today to try the following factory loads.

    50gr Winchester BST
    55gr Remington PLHP
    62gr Federal Bonded
    64gr Speer GD
    77gr Mk262 OTM

As with other guns, it detested the 62/64gr GD loads. Shocker.

Did OK with the Remington 55gr HP load.

    77gr Mk262 OTM

    And 50gr Win BST

Hope to try try them out tomorrow. Goal is. 1/4” load.

Looks like a winner! Nice rifle.
Aim higher, or get a bigger gun.

Sweet! Of course at this point you're no more accurate than your Ruger American!

Yeah. I know. Hence the disappointment and resulting load work.

    40 grain Vmax...Ramshot Xterm...3800 fps. Don't mean to sound like a broken record.....but you'll like it.

Just don’t have a use/need for that light a bullet. Even 52gr are pushing the “no need” barrier.

40 grainers in a braked .223 just make your rifle"shiver" a little upon launch. I found that to be useful when shooting into the next zip code. :)

Tried the 77gr SMK as you see above. Not the greatest results. I have some 80gr A-Max handloads but they are seated really long for my Contender Pistol. Not sure they would fit this chamber throat. Guess I could try. But, 80gr is kinda heavy for a 9T.

We just don’t have P-Dogs here. I’m more interested I targets near/far with double duty for medium game.

Looks great, hope you get it to shoot the way you want

We don't have many pdog here anymore, either. 2 rounds of sylvatic plague really put the hurt on them. I haven't shot a pdog in years. I've probably forgotten how to shoot.

I’m still not 100% sold on the Magpul Stock.

I took it off my .260 Remington and .243 Win because it had too much flex.

I’m still noticing the flex and not pleased.

Really wanted a mag fed bolt gun for this cartridge. I might ultimately pull the bottom “metal” out of this stock and instal it in one of my HS Precision stocks.

This particular stock came with my Remington 700 Magpul in .260 Rem. But yes, you can buy it separately as well.

Yep.  Since he’s got an ADL he needs some sort of bottom metal so I just wanted to point out the Magpul alternativeavailable.

Looks nice!  Where’d you get the bolt handle trailer hitch?
