The host was an experienced African and North American hunter with a stellar Weatherby collection, among other things.

    And some more...

Guy shot some lions! The one on my left had a mane all the way to his back leg and had some serious scars on his face, those were BIG lionesses compared to some of the males.

The lions are to my right in the picture, Cabelas should be jealous. The rhinos are replicas of ones he helped tranquillize for research.

    The Weatherby's

I would say 60 Weatherby's, some custom AR's and another 10 custom rifles in Weatherby calibers plus a dozen S&W revolvers in going to church finish my wife did not get pictures of. 3 Desert Eagles and 3 Weatherby actioned pistols. Ammo for all the calibers sitting on the shelf, 4! boxes of .460 Wthby, art work from Roy Weatherbys office from Frederic Remington and other original pieces, VERY COOL day for me today!

ALL of the proceeds today went to Disabled American Veterans, free BBQ ribs and beans and 3$ tap Grain Belt Premium and Nordeast with those proceeds going to the same charity. The guy has raised over a $Million in 4 years just opening up his house, again, VERY COOL day.

Roy Weatherby and his rifles actually make for interesting reading. Ive never shot one, but they are fine looking rifles chambered for intriguing cartridges.

Some of the rifles had Weatherby branded scopes on them with two adjustment knobs on the top, six power fixed scopes I believe, one rifle had what I assumed was a gold plated receiver and rings on it, most of the stocks matched, most were dinged up from use.

Yeah, I can't wait until next year, I know I missed stuff. The hosts bedroom had a full set of elephant tusks at the head and foot of the bed, elephant foot end tables and waste baskets, tanned elephant ears with Africa and the big 5 painted on them. I did not get any pictures of the whitetails, too awestruck, some monster atypicals.

You should make the drive next year, sounds like there might not be too many more of these events at his house

Understatement, supposedly his daughters house, on the same property, has a baboon flipping you the bird as you walk in her front door.

It’s neat, but, all of that has ZERO appeal to me. Different strokes and all that.

That's a serious collection.  Having the space to display it is a feat of its own.

Yeah, it is operating your life on a different level, but, if it makes you happy and it does not affect anyone else, I will go look at a gun and taxidermy collection and like what I like too, was not my thing entirely but I can see some of it.

The room with the elephants got added on a few years ago apparently, some thought went into it for sure.

There was no question that the rifles were Weatherby's when you walked into the gun room

holy poop!!! I know the majority here don't care nothing about africa but...

    Roan!?
    Rhino?!
Kudu with a full 2 curls PLUS??? (the Kudu on the right, they don't often make 2 full curls)
and the Ele tusks have to be in the 70+ lbs range.

Those are trophies you are not likely to see every again in our lifetime (maybe the elephant, if you've got 100K plus and luck, and time for a dozen hunts at 100k a piece)

Also, the dewlap on that Eland bull in the lion picture is amazing.

I did note those, I should have looked at them for caliber ID, I was too dumbstruck

Cool event all around besides the taxidermy, the auctioned/raffled off some guns and stuff and I bought a book written by a Vietnam Vet named Tom Newman about his experiences in 1968 with Bravo Co.of the 101st of the 502nd, not sure if that is written properly, interesting read so far.
