They used 19 Walker Hounds and a Marlin .45 Colt.

Damn.  That is a big cat.  That one might be one I'd consider paying the money for a full mount...

Walker hounds are good hounds for trailing. They have really good noses. That's a big ol' putty tat, too!

Friend of mine in Ft. Myers, FL was hunting (I think deer hunting; their seasons are weird down there) from the ground and one came up pretty close to where he were set up in a ground blind. I don't know if the cat or my friend were the most scared when it got in really close. The video is pretty funny, though. That cat got some gone when he finally moved to let it know he was there.

I crossed paths with a cat hunter with dogs once. You could hear them ol' hounds through the whole valley in the predawn dark like a staccato chorus.

In the grand scheme of mountain lion, that ain’t a big cat.

For my part of Texas........that’s a BIG cat!

In my world too that is big !  Or your friend is really small !

How much did it weigh?  My thinking is that 175 lbs. makes for a big cat.

Is a portion of the tail missing?

Even a small Mountain Lion is a big cat.

Did they eat eat the kitty?

I’ll ask about the weight and eaten or not.

The tail does look a bit stumpy.

    yes it is!

Yeah, I am pretty sure that would get a full mount.  It sure would scare the hell out of the dogs

Looks like a chunk braided nylon rope to me. Maybe for hanging Mr. Cat while weighing.

That would make a really nice rug . Bet that is a bit expensive but would be well worth it.

About the size of a female Florida Panther. Of course they are super protected down here.

I am thinking the rest of the tail is behind his boot, shame not to eat  SOME of it since you took it, but, if it was a problem animal I can see it either way, I still would have to try some. I hope it is going to the taxidermist for some kind of display, that is a pretty nice looking cat.

I also thought the same thing. My first thought was, “That things gotta be covered in ticks and bugs.” But, it looks pretty nice in the pic.

If if someone had the money and space, it would be cool as heck to have that thing mounted in a stalking position and have a jack rabbit, small deer or something mounted with it to set up a scene.

Being a cat lover, it always pains me to see these posts. Don't get me wrong, I know why they are hunted and have no problem with it. I just find them quite majestic. That is a nice cat.

This was his last pose. The look on his face, “Oh poop!”

Good lookin cat. Like Zee said for the southwest that is a fine animal. They get a lot bigger than that as you head north. Predators get bigger as it gets colder. Still a helluva nice trophy
