Flaky Jeff Flake just threw a monkey wrench into the who process. He voted for the judge to go to the senate floor from committee, but let his Dem buddies talk him into agreeing to a one week delay for an FBI investigation "Limited in time and scope" before he will vote on the floor for the judge.

Now it is up to the senate majority leader to see if he still has 50 votes left without Flake, depends on a couple more votes. If he has 50 the vote will go forward and then the VP can break the tie, but if not then they will go to Trump and try and get the investigation.................. ?????????????

Actually they will vote twice in the senate..........need 51 to proceed to end the debate and have the conformation vote on the floor. Or something to that effect.

Over the past history of this country, Has it gotten better or worse? The answer is worse. So, tell me how it’s going to change? Especially when people vote STRICTLY by party lines?
    The answer?
    It won’t.
As a conservative leaning voter, there is no other choice for me. Maybe if there was a libertarian I thought could win, I would vote him/her, but I hope you're not suggesting voting for a Dimmoralrat is even a choice. My sigline describes my opinion
Im not suggesting voting for a democrat. I AM suggesting that pulling the R lever EVERY time NO MATTER WHAT is going to keep the status quo.... the status quo.....forever. You can say the worst  R is better than the best D. Keep voting that way. It will keep staying the same.
There is ZERO motivation for a politician to change when they know they are a lock simply because of party affiliation.

I think even Trump knew better than to run as an independent. That's why he choose to run as a republican. He would not be there on independent ticket.

Well the request for a week for the FBI to investigate has been sent to the WH. REPs couldn't pull the votes to get 50.

So I find it hard to believe the DEMs will be happy and won't ask for more time and more investigations. Flake may be if the judge is cleared, Susan Collins also supports another week. It may give her cover to say she wanted to be sure to her constituents.

I still cant't figure what limited in scope means and if it includes just the Dr and/or the rest or those that may pop up.

Four more complainants will come out of the woodwork..........the investigation will rival the Russian Collusion investigation in length......The 'R's' will lose the house,...........Kavanaugh wont become a Justice............

I dont have a dog in this fight but I can see the above happening.

IF the Dems were to hold to the agreement of  1 week or less AND only investigate the current accusations then I do not see that much of a problem outside of certain Reps having no spine.

My problem is what happens when ...
... this makes Mitch McConnell the bad guy either way go first thing next week or let the FBI run a quick investigation. If they vote first of the week the Dems will scream he didn’t honor the agreement (which he was not in on anyway) and likely have a couple Reps vote “No”. Or he holds off for the FBI thing and Conservatives scream he has no balls.
... a “new” matter pops up next Tuesday (I swear one of the Dems is holding something back to throw out for another round of BS) and the Dems then say “Well, we need to look into this now”.
... the FBI can’t schedule a meeting in time with a witness or two.
... a witness basically says “That was almost 40 years back I do not remember”.
... any other thing the Dems don’t like in the FBI findings so they scream for more time, investigation and so on.

This is a fishing expedition of Moby Dick proportions ... with a built in delay for midterms. The one bright spot is it seems Trump has actually not made it worse by saying something stupid ... for once.

Trump approved it and it is limited to just Dr Ford and not the rest, I think????

The DEMS will never be happy, no matter what is found or isn't.

“They” (whoever that is) have divided the country using race, creed and religion.  Now they’re using sex to do the same and women around the country are falling for it. This world really needs a good plague right about now.

Jeff Flake is a contemptible bastard, and Senators Murkowski and Collins are barnacles on the ass of progress. The damage done to this country by irresolute RINOs is fast becoming incalculable. It is stupefying that the GOP, in charge of the entire government for the first time in decades, can't get its ducks in a row, pass the entire conservative agenda, and confirm every judicial nominee, and literally do it all overnight. This is the greatest blown political opportunity in our history. Just amazing.

If I were in Trump’s shoes I’d call Amy Barrett and Ray Kethledge (Mike Lee said don’t think about him) and see what they’d say as being on deck behind Kavanaugh. If either or both said they’d be interested I’d have the FBI combing thru their lives back to pre-school ... and would let the Dems hear those 2 names are in the system now. Schumer does not like Barrett (being being she’s Catholic) and Kethledge has peed in quite a few congressmen’s vote pools being in favor of the death penalty, big 1st Amendment Rights, step on Union toes. Truthfully I’d rather have either of those two than Kavanaugh ... they both are from more average type people and didn’t have the privileged schooling like the Ivy League or such.

It looks like the Democrats may have just stepped in it, assuming this is true.

Grassley uses Democrats “Two-Hour Rule” against them.

Flake agrees to a Yes vote on the condition of a 1 week limited FBI investigation.

Grassley says any discussion of conditions will occur after the vote.

Someone asks for clarification on what they are voting on.

Grassley confirms they are voting on whether to move Kavanaugh to the Senate floor for his next phase in the process.

Feinstein taps Grassley on the shoulder and interrupts to attempt to confirm the vote is "with the amendment".

    Flake reaffirms his conditional stance.

Kavanaugh vote proceeds to the Senate with 11-10 Yes/No votes. (Flake voted Yes)

    Discussions about the "condition" begin......

Grassley interrupts and states the committee is adjourned due to a "2-hour rule" (Paragraph 5(a) of Senate Rule XXVI)

Kavanaugh vote moves to Republican-controlled Senate on Tuesday. If it ends up in a tie, Mike Pence casts tie-breaking vote.

    Democrats just got played.

They don't have the votes from the fence sitters and so the one week FBI investigation will play out. They are starting the procedures to save time.

OMG, he threw a cup of ice in a bar at someone in college. Now it has drifted from him being sexual predator to drinking too much and having a bad temper.............

But wait the FBI report is back and they will all have a chance to see it..........not released to the public (yet)..............but just wait those congressmen will get in front of cameras and and try and make political hay and give away what they read or how they interpreted it for face time on TV.

Yep, the airplane claustrophobia, the extra door and her Ex BF saying she did indeed coach a friend on how to take a lie detector test.

That gal who questioned her asked about coaching.............me thunks a lot was known about her before the hearing than they let on.

Excessive drinking plus verbal and physical confrontation in high school and college. Virtually unheard of (sarcasm).

Well they can all look at the FBI report today, but in reality the only ones that need convincing are 3 RHINOS/Fence Sitters ...........they can lose one and the VP can break the tie, but Dems are a Nay anyhow.........

If it looks like the judge has enough REP votes a couple Dems may vote yes to try save their red state Dem seats in the upcoming midterms.

What Trump said at that rally was true, but perceived as mean by many and just the truth by others. He should have waited until after the vote and was restrained up until then.

They got their FBI investigation, but it was never intended to be enough, now they will complain it wasn't broad enough in scope or long enough...........ad nauseam.

There's a couple or more dem senatorial candidates who may have to hold their noses and vote for Kavanaugh.  They're in tight races in states won by Trump by a huge margin.  McCaskill of Mozambique and Manchin of West "by God" Virginnie are two of those.  There's also Heidi Heidkamp of ND who may have to vote for him, although she's already trailing by 10-12 points in the polls.

Flake is the only rino who really doesn't care about political fallout.  He has already said he would definitely vote for Kavanaugh if he were running for re-election.

BTW, I figured out why this is such a circus.  There's elephants, donkeys, rinos and clowns all over the place.

The usual suspects bitching about the investigation not being long enough or casting a wide enough net are THE SAME USUAL DEMOCRAT SUSPECTS that said at the beginning of the Kavanaugh hearings that they WOULD NOT VOTE TO CONFIRM Kavanaugh. Those people are the ones that say they are Democrats, but are really card carrying members of the U.S. Socialist Party.

In the last 8 years the Dimmoralrats are looking more like Communists every day. They say Socialists are Communists without the violence. If you consider all the violence (verbal and physical) that's been going on against Republicans these days by ANTIFA and other Dimmoralrat operatives, they're looking pretty much like commies.

The Senate and The House are very much like an internet gun forum albeit a with smaller number of registered users.  The vast majority don't engage in critical thinking, but are quick to spew the results of their critical emoting and believe that a statement that begins with "I feel" or "I believe" holds the same weight as "I have researched this, and the facts support the conclusion that X or Y is true".

Of course, everything they read on the internet, or every testostrogen charged emotion is mutated into a fact, and they are doing nothing more than vying for popularity among those who seek confirmation bias instead of factual confirmation via examining evidence and using common sense, logic, and reason to evaluate it and its sources.

Their shoutdown insults and hashtag polemics are the same as the bandwagon jumping and snarky little useless and nonsensical comments made by the great ignorantii.

It's funny.  It's truly hilarious in fact how their narcissism is played out on a national audience.

Now, looking at a bewbie when you're a teenager is "rape" and misusing a person's "chosen personal pronoun" is an act of violence.

Kavanaugh is guilty of nothing more than being nominated by President Trump.  Based on every shred of alleged evidence I have seen, read (multiple sources), and the testimony I have been able to stomach, all he will ever be guilty of is being a white conservative christian male who has achieved success.
