In the middle of  the most important 1st and 2nd amendment case in recent history, and he goes online to get a hooker.  What a dumbass way to derail the case, Cody.

Not specified in the story, but did he know she is a minor?

I wonder if she portrayed herself as legal age?

I don't know if that makes any legal difference, but it would make him less of a dirtbag in my estimation.

Man, what an idiotic bonehead move. If he just needed a hookup then the local bars are usually well stocked, and they're legal age. Definitely doesn't help his 1st and 2nd Amendment case, at all.

The article says she's 16. The unnamed officer said "if anyone saw the victim they'd think she was younger than her age." So, they are speculating what Wilson was thinking.

Anyone remember Mike Sackett? He was convicted of a sex crime after he beat the EPA in a SCOTUS case.

Seems to be a pattern forming...

Don't go walking in minefields. I see your point Cali with the Govt. posing as young women for hire, but it is hard to feel sorry for either of them.

One news site checked the website he used, and it does require you to be at least 18 to sign up.

but he is still an idiot for looking for hookers online.  He should know he has a huge target on his back, and not to open himself up like that

Cody has short eyes.  You visit pedophile websites you get what you deserve.

If he met a woman on line, she was 16 years old, they had sex soon after they met and he paid her $500, she's a hooker.  How does that NOT meet the definition of a prostitute?

    Well,
Until he's actually convicted, he's only guilty of shopping for children to molest.

I don't feel sorry for them. I'm merely suggesting they beat the government and were targeted by the same government. Funny how everyone says elected officials lie about everything, buy believe everything other government employees say. This entire case is built around one girl's statements. The article says "she says he paid her, she says he assaulted her, she says stuff Wilson said". The web site is for 18 and over. Plenty of circumstantial evidence to think he was looking for an adult hook-up, albeit a young adult.

Sorry guys, I'm not giving any credibility to APD when there are guns rights activists involved.

16 years old? In Alabama, the Republicans would try to make him a senator.

I would be interested in seeing your defense of an adult male who has sex with a 16 year old, pays her 500 bucks, and (in your opinion) is the target of a government conspiracy. There is apparently no screening for 18 year olds except to state you are in registering. Which she apparently lied.  Maybe he should have printed a sex partner...of a blow up sex dummy.

Common sense and good judgement isn't so common anymore. Cody seems to lack that common sense ability.
Good judgement comes from experience, and a lot of experience comes from bad judgement. Looks like Cody is getting a whole lot of experience from a series of bad judgements.

I haven’t any clue who this guy is or what he did with a court case, but could it be a guy getting framed by a vengeful government agency?

It's possible and highly probable. The government has been doing that since long before I was born. And it has had a trickle down effect. Cops put female cops dressed as hookers out on streets frequented by hookers. They get the 'customers' to solicit their services, and then arrest them for various crimes. Seems like entrapment at best. And why aren't the female cops dressed as hookers arrested for solicitation of an illegal act? If prostitution is illegal, aren't they actively engaged in the business?

That said I fully support the complete legalization and regulation of all forms of prostitution. People should be able to sell their own bodies to others if they so choose in whatever manner they want. It's not like a large percentage of sex isnt transactional in some way shape or form. It's never really "free".
    Yep.

Unless you have incontrovertible proof, have held the trial by a jury of his peers, and they have returned a guilty verdict, then YES, he is INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY. Being a former cop, I'd think you'd know this simple concept of the law.

A refresher, in case you forgot:
    https://www.law.cornell.edu/wex/presumption_of_innocence

Definition from Nolo’s Plain-English Law Dictionary

One of the most sacred principles in the American criminal justice system, holding that a defendant is innocent until proven guilty. In other words, the prosecution must prove, beyond a reasonable doubt, each essential element of the crime charged.

Have you set yourself up as judge, jury and executioner?

Being innocent until proven guilty is not the same as being falsely accused.  You should know that.

Not allegedly had sex with a 16 year old, and paid her 500 bucks, but HAS sex with a 16 year old, and paid her 500 bucks. From the statement you made I can only conclude that you believe him guilty before he's had a trial by a jury of his peers since you didn't give him the benefit of the 'innocent until proven guilty' part of the law.

Jesus, Gene. I said I hope YOU are never falsely (I'll add plain old accused) accused and have to face a jury made of people like you. Full stop.
