This was factory hornady .223 ammo that was loaded with a 55grain soft point , that my other AR is very accurate with. The bushmaster has a 4x scope so I haven’t tried much further than a couple 200 yards sessions practicing with it.
It was a yearling, not a pup of this spring, but not big by any means. I second the vote for 55 gr bullets, it has a thump for that sized game and good speed for minimal holdover for longer shots if necessary. I had been practicing on limestone pasture rocks with it this summer, they give a satisfying puff of white rock dust when you connect.
