Thank you! Just sent an email to one of the techs at Hornady with the picture, we will see what they have to say. He said they hold samples of all lots of ammo in reserve to check the lot in some gel if stuff like this happens.

Well, I am punting, I sent some better quality pics 3-4 weeks ago and no further response, the staffer at Hornady pretty much said "oh well", no idea why it did not expand, a quartering shot that nicked a rib and settled under the offhide side should have opened up.

The a pretty disappointing response.  I hope they at least intend to test and, if needed, pull that lot.
Accuracy: because white space between bullet holes drives me insane.

Well, it has been hunting season, and year end approaches at work, and and and, so I don't know what else the guy could say, I suppose I would have asked for the rest of my box and tried them out.

Well If I failed to say, congrats to your son. He came through even with less than good performance of the bullet. I've had similar experience with Hornady, complete pass throughs with not much damage to the interior. My son told me he did too. That's why on deer we both use either SGK or Nosler Ballistic's Tips exclusively.

But in all fairness that has been with Interlock bullets. I haven't tried SSTs yet or ELDs or any of their top line of bullets. From what I hear here I should do that before I write them off. Oh one Hornady I have had luck with is the Hornady BTHP Match in .223 Remington. That's a very accurate bullet.

Thanks, I have had good luck with interlocks out of my .300 Win Mag, two holes with a good exit wound, I have never recovered one.

Well, if you're a good shot with a .300 Mag I don't think you can go wrong. I think you could hit em in the big toe and kill em. My eldest grandson killed a nice spike with my 300 Weatherby mag and he didn't move an inch except straight down. Come to think of it that was with a 180 grain Interlock. So I guess I'm griping about nothing.
