If I was going above 500 HP I would stud the head along with a host of other mods. The HO Cummins should be good for up to 500 HP as is and the AISIN 6 speed transmission that was introduced in 2013 is good for 1200 fpt and is a much beefier transmission than the 68RFE. Couple that with I have no intention of running her that hard anyway and I should be fine. put a few miles on her today, for me it was money well spent.
I'm glad you're happy with it. I sincerely hope it works out the way you want.
I live in a diesel world. Foreman/equipment operator at a major excavating company. We own 130+ machines, 90% Caterpillar. I've owned a personal diesel truck, and driven a company diesel truck for at least 12 years, somewhere around 400k miles. Dodge and Ford at work. Chevy and Ford, personally. I ran a 500 hp Duramax. I have several buddies with 500 hp Cummins.

Stud it. Please.
I’m sure it will be done sooner or later. I don’t really plan on running it with more than the 65 hp tune for towing but it’s still probably not a bad idea when pulling a 36’ loaded trainee and a golf cart in Texas heat.

timc you and I share tastes in both shotguns and performance trucks. My daughter is currently driving my 2010 5.3L V8 powered GMC Canyon Z71 with CAI, enlarged air box intake, K&N air filter, ported throttle body, performance exhaust and custom tune. Gained a couple of mpg and a lot of power. Did the upgrades over 3 years and 100,000 miles ago and have had zero issues. I wish my 2010 Suburban was a diesel, but GM does not put a diesel in the Suburban any more. Might have a solution to look at when it is paid off.....there is a shop near Orlando that will pull the Duramax drivetrain out of a 3/4 ton GM truck and swap it into the Suburban.....and make it look and operate as if it were factory. The name of the place is DuraBurb. http://www.thedrive.com/news/7895/now-you-can-have-a-diesel-chevrolet-suburban-thanks-to-duraburb-inc
Pretty badass triple turbo Dirtymax. Skip to about 3:00 to see it run. The truck looks dumb, but is FAST. He should be punched in the bag for putting a late model bed on that truck. One of THE dumbest looking things you can do. https://youtu.be/iUfrR37-Olo
I wonder if it just fit the tire/rear end combo and he called it good.
