LIke the meme thread, I thought I would start one where we can share good programming on cable alternatives. That way when I am trying to find everyones recommendations they are in one place......

Netflix has the Avengers Infinity war

Amazon has Timothy Olyphant covered.... Justified and Deadwood

I didn't cut cable, but watched a few episodes of Downtown Abbey yesterday on Amazon Prime. One of my visiting daughters wanted to watch a couple episodes and I just kept watching some more after she left.

    Not for everyone.

I watched the fire and waited for the phone to ring.

It did not ring after 1730.

    Not a darn thing.
Wife bounces between Netflix and some kind of streaming HBO. I seldom set foot in the room where the TV is when its turned on - can't deal with the NOISE.

I watched "The Bird Box" on Netflix, then a few episodes of Frontier!

Don't know why I missed cable so much, it's the steaming wifi I missed the most!

I watched some of season 8 of the walking dead. I liked it better in the beginning and it seems to move even slower now.

The last thing I watched was over Thanksgiving weekend. That was "Jean Claude Van Johnson". It is only six episodes and it was kind of funny.

The Walking Dead was good for about the first four seasons and then they started going mainstream.

Let's see, they killed off Shane then Dale and Herschel, Glenn, Abraham, Carl, and let's not forget about Rick Grimes!

There's no one really left except Daryl. They've neutered their own show.

I think my wife is watching that (walking dead). I'll have to ask her her opinion of it. Right now she's watching something about FBI Trainees - "Quantico" I think its called.

I've been following Magnum PI and FBI for a bit. Not terriby bad, I'll see what season two has to offer.

Just binged watched Star Trek: Discovery season 1.  They do a lot of jumping around with various old episodes. If you're a fan of the older series and movies you'll keep up. Otherwise, you'll be scratching your head thinking what? It's also more girl-power oriented so if you have girls in the house they'll probably like it.

    It's definitely more mainstream!

Hmmm - maybe I'll check it out, assuming they've lost their obsession with "Space Seed".

Season 1 is all about the war between the Klingons and the Federation. It's chronologically about ten years before the original series takes off. You wouldn't know it by the SPX. And they have a new drive system to help get them into mischief.

That's too bad, because the one I've used at the shoot the last 2 years is a thing of beauty - how else could a tyro like me shoot 1 MOA at 300 yds?

I'm actually watching something - Space:1999. Almost done with the 1st season (of 2). Forgot how beautiful the sets are - and how hokey the FX!

You haven't missed too much. Rome is like a soft-core porn series with a decent story line.

Lots of bed hopping and lots of gratuitous nudity. Most of it was not pretty.

Gladiator was an example of a good movie without using lowest common denominator gimmicks.

I have the complete series on dvd. I throw it in when I'm reloading and listen to it like a radio program.

The sets are nice. They still hold up well but I remember it having more action.

The whooshing sound after ever explosion gets old after awhile.

And at least 3 Eagles get destroyed in every episode! Yet they never seem to run out.
