    Really Weird but Cool. If that thing works I don't know why they didn't catch on. Probably lots of machining and too expensive at the time, and then modern designs appear to be much simpler.

    Leave it to the Germans to build something that complicated and make it work!! I bet TennMike and Teach could whip one of those up in their laboratory!

    Pretty advanced for the time.  Patent was originally filed in the 1890's.

    Neat concept. The German gunmakers came up with some good ones. I think their drillings with multiple barrels are some of the most ingenious and elegant designs, though.

    Probably they weren't replicated is they were expensive to make and most likely were heavy for a hunting arm.  Anyway, today we're thinking of shotguns as defensive weapons when in the late 19th, early 20th century, they were primarily hunting tools.
    Concealed carry is for protection, open carry is for attention.
