NOTICE OF SHUTDOWN from NRA

I received this in todays mail. Supposedly NY Governor Andrew Cuomo is forcing financial institutions and insurance companies to refuse doing business with the NRA. I have been a member since 1965 but have lost a substantial amount of trust in their dishonest marketing tactics over the last few years. Their constant begging for money has existed forever. Two years ago I received a notice in March that my membership expired April 30th. I know when it expires and can verify that by the mailing label on my First American Freedom magazine and member card as July 31st! I ignored that, the desperate warning in early April. and the notice my membership had "expired" in early May! I continued receiving my magazine and renewed my membership when it was due. I have to suspect this looming demise of the NRA is just more money grubbing BS. Does anyone have more information?

Join GOA- - - -they actually do something, and the money pleading isn't completely eliminated, but it's a lot less obnoxious!

I am a member of Oregon Firearms Federation (OFF). They appreciate donations but also do not constantly beg.

Yes just money grubbing fear mongering. I think NY forced them to stop scamming their members with certain types of insurance products that were borderline fadulent, at least in NY, but they aren't and can't be shut down by NY since they're based in VA.

Hang that #ing commie, Cuomo. That left-wing idiot will do in a state that is already floundering on the brink of bankruptcy. I sure hope their pension system doesn't collapse.

Er...you do know that Alf will consider your pension to be 'old fart' socialism, and credit Democrats for bestowing this 'charity' upon feeble old cops who can't take care of themselves? ;)

Funny thing about Alf and socialism...he doesn't seem to oppose that "income equality" mindset. Yeah, he will and maybe some others don't like it, but what I get is contractual, and I lived and worked in New York for 45 years before retiring. My exorbitant property, NY income tax and other taxes paid for what I got, and the pension system is backed up with investments that make up the difference, so I don't feel guilty about it. I know that NY legislators would love to tap into our pension fund, but that isn't happening so far.
