What age does a fawn lose it's spots?

Saw a deer this evening and it was really small, small enough to still have spots but it didn't. I am guessing that it was born really late last year but I don't know. I have never seen one this small this time of year that wasn't spotted.

Most lose their spots at 3 to 4 months...

It would seem odd for one to be born around the first of the year. It could be an orphan and just hasn't grown as well as normal.

I saw a fawn in South MS a few years ago in either late October or early Nov that still had spots.
