Duck Hunting Season

Starts here this morning, off out the door now to a pond 
Have dog, Wirehaired Pointer, more ammo than I'll use in a month but...
 1/2 a dozen decoys put out last night, taking two guns, Remington V3 Semi Auto for the Mai Mai [Blind] shooting and a Miroku Under and Over for stalking the nearby creek when thing go quiet.
Weather forecast to to darn good as usual but heck, I like it.

8 birds down, dog worked really well
There were more to be had but 8 is enough for me for for one day
Season goes 3 months for Mallards and 5 Months for Paradise .
I took a series of stills of the wirehair retrieving in water, I'll post them when I get them off the camera.
It was a great day.

Excellent result Owen. Had fine weather here as well. The fog stuffed up opening morning with vis down to 15m.

Look forward to seeing the pics of the dog.

Here are the stills of the wirehair on an easy retrieve on the pond
The more difficult ones in cover on creeks I'm heavily involved in the encouragement side so haven't the time for a camera
He works very well, nothing gets away from him, if it's down, it's dinner.

A great dog over water is a treasure.  Too many times, I've suffered through need deep mud retrieves to believe otherwise.  Glad you had the pup there to do it the right way.
