THE REAL COST OF ELECTRIC CARS.....

I wasn't looking for this, but it popped up on my FB wall this morning. You know how all the liberals are always crying a river about the horrible conditions the refugee children have to suffer on the US southern border?

"after the historic pledge made by Britain to ban the sale of petrol and diesel cars from 2040 and switch to electric vehicles."
I wasn't aware of this - so Britain will be the latest socialist "Nirvana" held up as a shining example of how the US should be, possibly even replacing Sweden. Riiiiight.
The comments are interesting, learned a new term "Latte Socialists"...
And all this while the world wide anti Pb hysteria continues. Uh-huh.

I brought this up before in the Politics forum, and got a big 'MEH' from the resident Democratic Socialist. Long as he gets his batteries for his toys he don't give a rats crusty butt about kids in Africa and elsewhere being used as slave labor to mine the stuff for those batteries.
And the mica mines for those same batteries are just as bad or worse.

Either that or we can all pledge to not use anything with a lithium battery including cell phones, laptops, high powered flashlights, illuminated optics etc. If we don't we're basically murdering children in Africa.
I'm already on board with this! ;)

The liberal deflects again: We survived just fine using Lead-Acid and Alkaline batteries for over a century. For all I give a crap, we can go back to that technology, (.........................). I started life in a lower-tech environment and I can go back to it too, for all I care.

MMD You can see what I edited out. Don't do it again.

Don't forget the pre-alkaline, Sal ammoniac batteries. But again, the world wide anti Pb (Lead) hysteria - and it is *hysteria* - continues to gain momentum.

And conservatives pretend to care about a few hundred kids in Africa when they can use it as an excuse to remain the the stone age, yet I've never heard a peep from them before about the hundreds of millions of kids in developing countries forced into child labor either at gun point or out of necessity.

That said if you really do care here are some organizations you can consider donating to to help out:

    https://globalmarch.org/get-involved/donate/

    https://www.nclnet.org/donate_clc

    https://endchildlabor.net/donate/

    https://www.we.org/our-work/we-schools/we-schools-campaigns-and-curriculum/issues-details/global-child-labor

    https://www.unicef.org/protection/57929_child_labour.html

Pick one and make a donation. This goes for anyone on the board, make a donation to any of the above, PM me the organization and the amount and I'll match it.
Typical liberal response; got a problem, then throw money at it. You're a slow learner. That response never works. Read a little history and buy a clue.

Typical conservative, never willing to put your money where your mouth is.
I do. My money goes to Disabled Veteran's orgs, Shriner's Hospital, St. Jude Children's Hospital, and a few others, not that that info is any of your danged business. I KNOW for a fact my donations make a difference there. And I damned well check the percentage of donations made to donation money spent for intended purpose.
Your marches and those other orgs you linked do little to nothing. For the child labor exploiters, the ONLY thing that works is to take the exploiters and use tall trees and short ropes, or a double tap their noggins. You live in a dream world; I've actually been to some of the places that still do that child slave labor. They aren't on the 'tourista must see' brochures. Get out of the tourist traps and open your eyes.
