Hope everyone has a great, relaxing day, and eats way more than they should.

Happy Thanksgiving to all...my favorite holiday.
My wife and I enjoyed a quiet non-traditional Nordic Thanksgiving. Smoked salmon, smoked Arkansas River rainbow trout, smoked Cornish game hens, and more weird side dishes than I care to list.
I had to go smoke a pipe to get rid of the smoke taste.

Having a seafood boil this year. Lobster, king crab, gulf shrimp, clams, with new potatoes and corn on the cob.

So, I'm ready for Xmas - and since Teach can't be with us here, I'll uphold his tradition:

Over for another year. Now I can take down the fall decorations off the porch (the jack-o-lanterns from Halloween). Plus I got 2 turkey carcasses and a boatload of vegetable trimmings. I am going to make up a bigass pot of poultry stock this weekend and pressure can it. I will start up a thread about it once I get going.

Happy Thanksgiving. First one I have actually had off in nearly ten years. I actually have a four day weekend. Unheard of. No need to rush anything. Bird just came out of the oven after brining for 28 hours....Easy dinner. Nothing fancy.

Managed to eat my fill of turkey, drink my fill of beer, get all four kids to bed, and still enjoy a cigar and two fingers of rye to finish the evening.  It was a good turkey day.

We had a good day, friends from mexican restaurant in town came for turkey and trimmings. Did a traditional turkey and a smoked turkey,  both turned out very good. With a total of 8 we did not have a lot of turkey left but lots of pie. A lime pie, two pumpkin pies, one apple pie and a pumpkin cheese cake. All were home made.
Hope everyone has as good a day as we did.

We went to an extended family home, was a great time; but, was a cluster, too.

The home owner a jarhead and his BIL a sailor were going to fry a turkey so a large group could eat at 4PM augmented with a larger oven cooked turkey.

They get out in the yard and set the cooker up, I see they are pretty snockered so I sat out far in the yard and watched.

They  get the cooker set up and try to light the fire. There is a pop and a flash and one of them is pulling his hand out of the fire. No fire on the burner, just around the regulator on the gas hose and one of them is trying to blow out the fire. They finally shut off the gas and tighten the connection and try again two more times with the same results.

Then decide the burner feed pipe is clogged and blow that out with an air hose. They then get fire on the burner; but, cannot control the flame to get a blue flame.

So off to Wal-mart they go with a designated driver; which is at least 15 miles away.

Eventually, they get back with a new cooker and everything goes down like clock work.
Except the 1600 dinner went off very well at 1830.

Good food and a good time with family and friends. I, also, got to see the Great granddaughter walk unassisted----she is a year and 3 weeks old.

I think that was more of a Charlie Juliette, than a Charlie Foxtrot - wow, what a fine mess! Good thing you were sitting well away from it!
