As part of this govts scheme to 'make NZ safer' they have been running a 'gun buy back scheme' to get rid of military style semi automatics.
To hand them in you have to enter your details through the Police website, details like your full name, address, D.O.B, Firearms license number, Bank account number and what you are handing in.......This is then stored in a data base which the Police said was secure.

Well, it now seems that over 37,000 of us are an 'open book' with regards to the above information.....

Any chant chance of mobilizing a voting resistance, and voting the idiots out of your government?

Probably direct deposit of funds to account for any turn-in firearms.

And this is just more proof that government, ANY GOVERNMENT, can screw up anything they touch.

What a second slap on top of taking your guns.  I have read a few articles and you folks are getting hosed on the $$ you are receiving.

Whatever the $$ received is bull.  The money was spent on the firearm.  Thus the firearm is more valuable than the money.

    Yep. Direct deposit.

I miss my M1 carbine :'( and the money I was paid is no compensation cos the carbine came from the estate of the guy who taught me to hunt ducks. He died in 2010 when I was at the SE aged 101. No amount of money will replace the value of that firearm.)

Classic cop behavior: Immediately deny any wrongdoing, assume the relationship between the public and the police is perfect, and downplay the event because a citizen discovered it. This guy must've studied Art Acevedo.

"There was no hack involved in the information being made available, Clement said.
He was confident no-one in the NZ Police was at fault.

Based on the information he had, firearm holders did not need to take any special measures to ensure they were safe, Clement said.

If that changed those people would quickly be contacted, he said.

Clement said he was confident firearms owners remained confident with police processes, though they would be "disappointed" as he was in what had happened today.

A spokesperson said earlier today police had been made aware today of a "potential issue" by a member of the public."

When our governing officials dismiss due process as mere semantics, when they exercise powers they don’t have and ignore duties they actually bear, and when we let them get away with it, we have ceased to be our own rulers.

Interesting they are using Chicom tech that is known to have spyware in it. Huawei. Govt channel?

Love the way that she blames the people they hired. Guess what honey? If you hadnt forced the people at the point of a gun to give up that information, it wouldnt have happened either.

It's boring, and your lack of creativity knows no bounds.

How can the government "buy back" something that was never theirs to start with?
