In the officers defense, that thing, in the dark, might well resemble a 12" barreled .44 Mag. I'd have likely shot him too. Darwinism is tough on idiots.

I'd like to read that ICR.
The cops were probably responding to a complaint about a man with a weapon behaving in a threatening manner to other pedestrians. When they got there, they wouldn't really know what to expect. Possibly, crazy guy on the street with a weapon. In the dark, that "toy" presents a real possible threat. If he failed to respond to commands or acted in a threatening manner then I can see why the officers would shoot.
Like I said, I would like to read that report.
Oh well, I hope this perp makes it and learns from his mistake. My guess, drugs or alcohol were involved. Just guessing.

Guy no question has a knife.

Guy has what looks like a gun behind said knife.

Guy just pointed both at responding officers.

And the reason for NOT shooting him is. . .?

    Next news story please.
