I haven't been keeping up with this thread. That looks way better than the temporary co-witnessing set up. Those optics looked like the rifle fell in a time machine and came out the wrong end. Much better now.
Huh. Looks like I somehow missed the existence of this thread entirely.
I had an HK SR9 (idiotic Californicated thumbhole HK-91) for a few years in the early '90's back when I and the rest of the world was drinking the HK Kool Aid.
Good shooting gun that I had in my mind at the time as sniper material, and I set it up with a Leupold 3.5-10 on the A.R.M.S. claw mount (maybe an actual HK) I think with 1" inserts. As I recall, it ran about 3/4 MOA with Federal Match.
I coughed up the money for the PSG-1/MSG-90 trigger group, and that did make a world of difference. While I'm not much for swapping out OEM stuff these days, the issue trigger was in fact pretty bad.
Ended up not being much of a prone/sling gun due to the height of the pistol grip and magazines, plus the height of the optic made it a TALL platform. The added recoil from the heavy reciprocating bolt block also made it not terribly fun when tight into the rifle. It also TRASHED the brass, even with the clip on rubber bumper I added, so it ended up being pricier to feed. Great battle rifle, but for what I had built up in my mind to do with it, not so much. It financed a nice 4x4 when I sold it though, so live and learn.
I like your 1.5-4 setup a lot. I'd have probably sacrificed some of the bayonet range capability and leaned toward the 2.5-8 range, but I see where you're going with it. Good way to dispose of the less desirable ammo.

So what you are saying Bigslug is that he needs to shoot it at 300yds?
