Vexit and other items of the Virginia "Mood"

So I did a search yesterday to try to learn more about the movement of Virginia's pro-2A counties to break off and join West Virginia.  A fair amount of talk about the logistical complications of said move, but not a lot about the mood of the man on the street about it, and not a lot about whether it's a real possibility or just pre-election grandstanding.

I did come across this site: https://sanctuarycounties.com/  The map of Virginia is flat out grin-inducing.

At the very least, this seems to me to be a FANTASTIC get-out-the-vote talking point, but it also clearly illustrates the rural/urban division and that our "melting pot" experiment may be more of a "melt-down".  No, it seems that we can't all just "get along".

So for those on the ground in these locales, where do you think it's heading?

There was a fairly good editorial warning of the deliberate attempted mis-use of these laws in a previous Guns & Ammo issue.

The resulting geographical political divisions highlighted in the OP, IMO will need more fuel to become clear lines of divisional battle that demand significant attention from state and local governments. I don't think trampling 2A rights of the citizens will be enough. It will take substantial economic disparagement of the kind often contained with in convoluted legislation that favors denser population centers.

The fact that someone is compiling that specific data is for sure a start. Ass fires always start in the wallet though. Deal now or deal later. The lid won't come off all at once, but there will be reckonings of various intensity. Virginia's a good as place as any to keep an eye on.

As potential landmark cases go, that one's probably a real peach, and perhaps telling that it happened so relatively early in this whole "red flag law" process:

Let's see. . .your one idiot son threatens to stab your other presumably idiot son (he motivated the other after all), you call a cop with a gun  - who's been trained & licensed by the state and no doubt background-checked to the eyeballs, and probably doesn't know you from Eve - to come to the party to hopefully chill things down, get your knife-wielding son justifiably blown out of his shoes for your trouble - on body camera -  and then file a witch-hunt lawsuit no doubt headed up by some ambulance chaser claiming your son wasn't serious, the cop was out of line and also your former lover with whom you had a child???

This and the Virginia mess all seem to illustrate the mindset that it somehow becomes acceptable to ignore about half the amendments in the Constitution once a firearm or the right to own one is involved.  If nothing else, we may need to have a Protection From Frivolous Idiocy Amendment drafted out of this.

A significant portion of our litigious society is in perpetual domestic litigation. These cases are often characteristic of vicious accusations, protection orders, and other attempted punitive measures. Orchestrated by unconscionable, and unscrupulous lawyers for leverage. Divorce and child custody are just the tip of the iceberg.

The cost of these laws have exponential potential far beyond the temporary or even the permanent loss of targeted individual rights. Our entire society will foot the bill.
