Working Cattle!

Worked cattle at my best friends place yesterday. We only had 6 that needed to be branded and tipped. The cattle are all tame enough to pet, hand feed, and generally handle. Until you start branding and tipping and freaking them out. So, some friends came over to help. 
I was in the pens with the cattle. Sorting and herding them into the squeeze chute. 
The reason I posting this.......I handed my boy my new IPhone 11 Pro Max and told him to take pics. 
I’m impressed with both his composition and the phone’s camera.

    And the only one who tried to kill us......

    Dirty Dan



    He was last and the only one I didn’t trust. The catch man missed him in the chute and we had to let him go. Try and get him back in the pens and back through the chute. Well........that really pissed him off!
    He put us all over the fence several times. Trying to get him back through the run and into the chute. Put me up a tree three times and over the fence three times. Finally got him back in the chute and worked. 

    After all was said and done, we let them chill out in the pasture then went out to pet them. Everyone was fine.........except Dirty Dan. He was still pissed. 😎

    I've clamped a few bulls in my lifetime. Damned near shook the barn off the foundations....

    I don't know anything about cattle or ranching. The pictures make it look the cattle were working you guys.

    I don't know a thing about cows, except they taste great when cooked properly. But those are some great pics from a phone.  Your boy didn't get any of you climbing the tree?

    I did not like working cattle like that, but I REALLY hated working goats.  Cows are dumb and only rarely get ideas.  Goats will get ideas like "I can climb him like a tree to get over the fence," and "When he is turned I'm going to ram the side of his knee."

    Great pics, BTW.

    We let the heifers calve at the house pasture then keep them and their calves there for a couple years. Taming them down in the process. Any cattle to be kept out of the calves get branded, named and tamed down even more. 
    Eventually they are moved over to the big ranch with the rest of the cattle. 
    A few of the “pets” always remain at the house pasture to help tame down the next batch of heifers and calves. 

    They really are like pets.  This is Buddy two years ago.

    We had a Angus bottle bull on the place who was a "pet" right up until he got to feeling his "maleness"...normally, when he started doing his pawing and head shaking nonsense you could just throw your hat at him and he'd take off....The day we loaded him in the trailer for his trip to the sale barn...he started his stuff and my friend Ricky threw his hat in his face...and that bull just stomped that hat...and put us all over the corral fence...things went downhill from there...took us two hours and a 25 year old cutting horse to get that bastard in the trailer

    Worked for a vet one summer in college. Worked 65 cows and calves one morning. Should have taken about 2 hours. Took about 5 hrs. The cows were definitely not tame.  

    Lot different than working with the dairy cows my grandfather had.

    Some of those pictures don't look quite "natural." Where they edited with software apps?

    It looks like an “HDR” (high dynamic range) filter was used.  That is built in to most camera apps.
    To make something simple is a thousand times more difficult than to make something complex.

    The phone camera has a Portrait Feature and HD feature. 
    I also ran them through SnapSeed.

    I don't know much about cattle, but I have a friend who grew up around them.  He told me once that you don't own cattle, they own you.

    You don't own them....you marry them...
