Zorba, you build that NAS?

Are Technica had an article about how WD and most other HD manufacturers are selling SMR drives as NAS compatible but it appears to be somewhat shady.
That's all I got.

    I ended up with a pair of Slavegate (Seagate) Iron Wolfs. *shrug* WD has never been my favorite mfg for anything - dating back to the 1970s when their floppy controller data separator didn't work. Don't get me wrong, I've used plenty of their drives, but hearing this doesn't really surprise me. Did the article make any mention of Seagate?
    ETA: Never mind, found the article. Seagate has apparently done it too - hopefully not in the Iron Wolf line. NAS is working fine thus far...

    Seagate was mentioned but not the Iron Wolf.
    One of the "tells" is if you can turn on the TRIM function which isn't an option for traditional spinning platter.
    That's all I got.
