Two dams breached in Michigan

Seems Michigan can't catch a break. First a Covid hotspot, and now 11,000+ people evacuated due to flooding from the two dams failing. Hope our Michigan members are out of harms way of this mess.  o:)

One of my sisters works in Midland. She's likely been working from home as she did that a lot even before the pandemic.

Ive driven and even hitchhiked past the golfcourse the news showed under 9' of water many times way back when. Last trip back there took my Mom to the Doc there. DOW is a shadow of its former self......

I'll find out from my Mom how her county is fairing sunday morning over the phone.

My understanding is that the issues with the first dam that failed have persisted for over 2 decades.  The previous owners appreantly didnt do much to correct the issues and it was only rated for 50% of its intended maximum capacity.  The current owners made some changes and got it up to something like 66% capacity.  Governmental agencies claim the company that owned the dam didnt make the required improvements and the company has been claiming the agencies have not given them permission to do the work for the improvements.  Its a 96 year old earthen dam.  Is it really that much of a surprise it had issues?

Living in the Rona hotspot, it has been blown out of proportion big time.  I know one person that had a confirmed case, and he had no clue he even had the virus to begin with.  I suspect what went through the job back in December and January was the Rona as a lot of the customer employees travel internationally, including to China, fairly often.  My guess is that I had it before it was even confirmed to be here.

No local flooding by me.  The local drain area didnt even come close to overflowing.  We didnt get all that much rain by me.  Dodged that one as the ground is still a bit water logged around here.

The biggest problem we face in Michigan is not the virus or a couple of blown out earthen dams....It's our Governor...

Do you think he'd be in rehab if he had not been caught in a hotel room, naked with two other dudes and so stoned he couldn't stand or talk?? It's rhetorical!! B)
We dodged an A (hole) bomb!!
