Model 1884 Springfield 45-70 rifle

I can't remove the cleaning rod from this rifle.  It rotates but it won't come out.  Help.

    Not sure which rod you're dealing with...there were several..

    Try flexing the end of the rod away from the barrel while pulling on it.

    Stick a screwdriver blade through the slot and pull...there shouldn't be anything holding it in...

    Remove your trigger guard and see if you can see the end of the ramrod channel...

    I did flex the rod away from the barrel and put a screwdriver in the slot and tapped on it with a hammer. Something is holding it.  I pulled the trigger guard but couldn't see anything.  I am able to turn the rod but it won't come out.

    Can't recall...but can you get the barrel out of the stock without without removing the ramrod?
