Howdy from Northern Colorado! Yesterday I was at the right place at the right time! There was a “Free, come and get” for “an old canoe” well I got there to find this. It has some love marks and the gunnels are going to need either replaced or repaired, and revarnished. I will probably have to fully sand and a new coat of resin then varnish. Not too shabby for FREE! Man j can’t wait to get it in the water! A love mark I’ll have to fix. Oh, it’s 17.5 feet long.

Oh man it’s going to be fun! These wood boats are stupid expensive to buy.

There's no such thing as a free boat - or a free piano for that matter. With that said, DAMN NICE CANOE!

    A canoe really isn’t a boat.... it’s a sitting paddle board 🤣😊

Nice!  I do love owning a canoe, but ours is not nearly as cool as that.

Well....that's a holy crap moment...beautiful boat...little bit of love and you're going to have a helluva canoe..
Last wooden canoe I saw had a price tag of near $6,000 dollars on it..
    Any soft spots in it?

Yeah I was shocked when I started to do the research! In its current condition they go from 1500-2k, mainly because of size.

Oh that already happened! That’s why I want a canoe and a BIG magnet! I didn’t think my canoe was going to be so cool though. 🤣

    Very nice catch!

If it doesn't takes water, to me any additional work is show off! 😁

Your canoe is what we call a "cedar strip canoe" , if you dont already know it is the "creame de la creame" of canoes, to say I am jealous of you would be an understatment , I shall hate you for the remainder of my life.

Cant wait to see the pics after you restore it.

My fishing buddy built one of these.  It's a lot lighter than his other plastic canoe but it's only 14 feet long. It's got fiberglass on the inside and outside (clear glass) and impressive.  He needs he said to work on the gunnels where he spliced them.  I assumed it was a kit, but it wasn't; he got plans somewhere.  I assume the strips were ordered as such.  His has high bow and stern like an Indian canoe; he says it's a bit problematic in the wind as it catches and moves the boat around.
Concealed carry is for protection, open carry is for attention.

Unfortunately they tend to go the other way a lot, specially when newbies decide to take on canoeing 😁

I've never seen that jeep look better.

The sweat equity in that is enormous.
