From my post the other day. I found a Remington 700 in 243 Winchester at a local shop for the marked price of $270! as my usual at any shop I ask if that’s the best they can do, and to my surprise they said ok $270 out the door!  Well here it is.

I killed my first deer and several more with an identical rifle. Outstanding find!

Nice score. Not a huge 243 fan, but the action and stock alone are worth that.
Doubtful I could walk away from it at that price.

I LIKE the .243.  Can be made very accurate.  You got a deal.

I have a weaver k4 Micro track on the shelf I’m going to try on to see what’s going on. I will swap it out later. Wally World has Winchester 100 gr power points for 16.45 a box so I got 5 of those for the brass mainly but it may shoot them just fine..... we will see

Sometimes the old forends will develop a slight warp with age. It may help the initial trial to make sure a bill can slip between it and the barrel from the front back to the recoil lug. A dowel rod and some sand paper could save time at the range if needed. If it likes them Winchesters, I'm sure they work as well now as ever. Which is likely quite well.

Very nice rifle and doggie approved, too. That one looks like it's from the 1960's. If it is, then it's definitely one heck of a deal. Put a scope on that thing and shoot a speed goat or mulie!

Sure enough the barrel is a bit tight on the stock. It will need relieved.

With the weaver K4 mounted in the proper vintage weaver rings too. Silly I know but it’s a classic deer and goat rig, at least a western version.
