What to do

So our primary is over for an empty senate seat and now I get to choose between a rino and a liberal. We had choices in the primary but the republican leaders pushed for the rino and he won. The republican party calls from time to time wanting money and they wonder why people like me hang up. The older I get the more cynical I am.

Answer the phone, tell them how you feel, then YOU hang up.

Caller ID, just don't answer, or block the number on your cell phone!

I'm guessing the rino is most likely to vote with Trump for judicial appointments.  That may be the best you can hope for, all things considered.

It's not the phone calls that annoy me, I have caller ID and if I am not in the mood I don't answer. What makes me mad is how many times do I have to vote for the lesser of two evils. I guess I should be happy that my house rep. seems pretty good and votes like he talks but soon I will have two Senators that I don't like.

I don't recall ever doing anything else.  If it makes you feel any better, I pursue a policy of "voting against"

    WORD - again!
I don't recollect ever voting *for* anyone, only *against* somebody else. "Laugh about it, shout about it when you've got to choose. Any way you look at it you lose!" --Simon & Garfunkel
Actually, I partly take that back. Trump is as close as I've ever come to actually voting *for* someone...

I do vote FOR candidates.  I understand that NO ONE will ever get on a ballot that I will agree with 100% because in a country of over 330,000,000 you WILL have to make compromises and that applies to everyone.  So I find the party and candidate I agree with the most and the I vote for them.  Then I work like hell to make my feelings known to them, constantly.

99% of the time I can't say this - for myself. Both/all candidates are usually so far away from my reality that I end up detesting both/all of them. Trump was a welcome change, although of course he isn't 100% either. But at this point in time, I'd vote for Adolf Hitler before I'd vote for any of the leftists! And that's a DAMN sad thing to have to say...

Simply have to vote for Freedom & Liberty at this point.  That leaves only one choice for me. Trump and Republican party.  Libertarian mostly but they never seem to nominate any one of useful purpose.

I've gotta agree with that. If the Libertarians ever field an honestly viable candidate, I might tend to lean their way. My wife is a registered Libertarian, and it's amazing the things she doesn't get to vote on.

I'm not 100% "with" the Libertarian PARTY - but I certainly am Libertarian by nature. That's why I really don't like EITHER of the "big two" - but binary choices are all we're given.

    WORD.

The depressing thing to me is that the Libertarian Party, with their message of "Our major platform item is to stay out of your lives" can't gain any traction.  It seems that meddling and resistance of same is how our system is wired.

What makes me mad is how many times do I have to vote for the lesser of two evils.

Every time until you run yourself. If you agree with anyone 100% of the time, one of you is a liar.

    WORD to your WORD.
Someone much smarter than I once said (paraphrased): "People don't want freedom, they just want fair masters." - to which I'll add the suffix "... that agree with them.".

I've lost track of the number of times I've voted against someone rather than for someone.  That is certainly true of the times I voted for McCain and Romney.

This year, though, I'm definitely voting for the man I want to stay in the white house.  As for the congressional seat and senate seat, both will probably go red whether I vote or not.  I'm ok with that.

Sure, there are a few things that Trump does that bothers me, BUT for me the choice couldn't be more clear: more constitutional conservative SC justices, lower taxes and a better economy, OR less of the aforementioned (probably MUCH less or NONE), plus a disastrous foreign policy. There is NO way I'll be voting for ANY democrat-socialist (progressive) EVER!! BTW, these people in government that are passing themselves off as "progressives" are lying. When you see or hear the word "progressive" when they're talking about politics, they're really talking about Marxism and/or Communism. Using the word "liberal" when talking about democrats really no longer applies, IMO.
