Ammo Identification

I recently found an old live 30.06 cartridge with a metal detector on my farm.  It's stamped with STM4 and has a full metal jacket.  Any ideas on the manufacturer?

For ST all I have found is the Royal Ordnance Factory Number 22 at Steeton,Yorkshire, Northern England 1939-1945.

M4 could be '44. or a following stamp for cartridge completion at another site.
