It’s back! HS Precision Specialty Pistol!

Years ago, my Mentor let me play around with his HS Precision Specialty Pistol in .223 Remington. I took a couple deer with it using head shots. 

Well, yesterday I hooked him up with some things he wanted and he gave me the HS Pistol to keep!  So, it’s back!!
Being a fast twist barrel (1-12) I can only shoot light Bullets through it. That was a problem back when I first played with it, as I wasn’t handloading for the .223 yet. But now, I have several lighter bullet options that should work. 

The only scope I had available on my shelf was a Nikon 3-9x ProStaff. Not my favorite. But, it’ll do until I get something else. 

Now to hit the range and see what handloads will do.

Sixty grains probably would be stretching it, but handloads will tell the story.  Looking like an accurate pistol.

I've never fired a specialty pistol before but im really liking the looks of that. Im assuming that glass is LER?

I was admiring the stock earlier. Then I reread the post, realizing the maker.

Modern bullets sure have answered the call.

No. It’s a rifle scope. I use them on Specialty Pistols sometimes. So does Ernie. You just have to doughnut hole your FOV through the scope. On well breaked Guns or low recoil cartridges, you can get pretty close as well.

That is the same twist rate as my bolt gun in .223.  I would try a few in 50 and 52 gr also maybe even lighter if you can find them.
My Rem 700 is the most accurate with lighter weight bullets.

I shot both those deer with 50gr Winchester Ballistic Silvertip Factory ammo. It shot that well. 

In component bullets, I have:

52gr FBHP (Nosler/Rem)
52gr Hornady ELD-M
55gr Dogtown HP
55gr Sierra GK
55gr Speer GD
60gr Hornady FBHP
62gr Speer GD

Somewhere in there, I hope to find a load.

Ordered some cheap ass scope level from Amazon and it was delivered today. Put it on the gun and headed to my friends ranch to get on paper. 

I had some 55gr HPBT Federal Premium ammo to get things going. 

Not bad for factory ammo and a cheap Nikon Rifle Scope!!!

The weakness is the scope. Not the greatest. 😒
