I’m not sure. Heavier than I’d have thought he’d want. But, when he was choosing the stock, he went with the heavier AICS than either HSP option he had.
Let him field it and see what he thinks. He may decide to go trimmer and lighter. Since you have it already he can try both. He may not want to change this current setup because of the bonding build. Which means......there is another build coming.... ..Trust me, the father/son bond is a very strong thing. I always wanted it with my dad, but it was never really reciprocated. Make it happen!
You never know.....I never had a whole lot of choices in rigs as a kid, but I always had a prediliction toward the heavier ones I was offered. Still my preference to this day.

I forgot to mention that we failed to follow standard barrel break in procedures. Ruined it by doing our own method involving diatomaceous Earth and VFG Pellets for a lapping. Then......shot the damn thing!!!
