We had 3 nice bucks around the property I farm and hunt, but couldn’t find any of them after first 3 days. Almost every time I hunted it was the same group of doe/fawn and tiny bucks. (2 with 1 antler)
Our older girl is starting to enjoy the outdoors and wanted to be with me when I shot one. With this being the last weekend, if it’s brown it’s down was the policy.

We got into the blind and only sat an hour before the herd came out of trees and into the clearing. We picked the biggest doe and when she turned broadside, I squeezed the trigger of the 336 and she dropped in her tracks. First deer with the Marlin I’ve killed. I used a 170 gr Hornady SP at 122 yds.
Like always, I was hoping for a trophy, but there’s nothing wrong with venison in the freezer.
My wife and step daughters are city folk, so all outdoor adventures are new. I’m hoping Josie will want to hunt now that she’s been exposed to the thrill of the kill, but time will tell.

This was the first deer tag I’ve had in 3 years, so overall a good hunting experience.
