Kansas Deer Hunt

Got to take a trip to Kansas to go hunting with my brother, and even got to spend a day in the blind with my daughter who is going to KSU. Had a great time, called for coyotes, hunted hard, missed a doe opening morning, and finally connected on this @ 2 year old 8 point. Good times with 1965Jeff, his family and the oldest!

I hunted on Ft. Riley when I lived in Wichita. Good country.
Gun control laws make about as much sense as taking ex-lax to cure a cough.
Saturday, my brother said we should swap blinds, get a new viewpoint for the day. I just had settled in, probably five or six minutes after shooting light, he stuck his head out of the woods, 100 yards in front of me.
I let him walk out in front of me and got my Savage .30-06 settled on the rest. He turned quarter toward me as I took sight behind his shoulder, and squeezed of my shot. He was @ 80 yards out, looking around nervously, downhill from me. The shot hit him in the spine and he dropped right where he was, flopped a few times and was done.
Load was Winchester Ballistic Silvertip, 168 grain. Recovered the slug on the off side, under the hide, picture of the slug to follow.
