S&W shotgun

Does anybody know anything about a S&W 1000m shotgun I understand its an automatic (SEMI) and its a full choke and 3inch chamber I also know that its made by Howa other than that Im not a shotgun person and not much info over the net its real clean and I found it was loaded too

Not much....other than my college friend carried one.....it’s the only one I’ve ever seen.

So far what I've found out its the worst designed and manufactured gun that was ever built it was cheap and pretty and thats why I bought it but it may never make it off the workbench before I smash it and cut into tiny pieces and send it to S&W along with any other one I own because I don't think that I ever want to own another gun from a company that would sell a piece of junk as this gun is

This gun is an absolute joke of a gun and on the net everyone has the same opinion as me so I guess my opinion of S&W being a competent gun company  was just erased

S&W just wanted a shotgun in their lineup so they did what all other companies do.  Rebrand someone else’s gun.  In this particular case it was a failure but at the same time they were selling Howa 1500 rifles under their brand and those were and still are superb guns.

Over 10 hours trying to get the action back together after cleaning it and no farther ahead now than I was back then and I have tried everything short of growing 2 more sets of hands

I have one in the shop now for repair. They all have the same issue. The plastic buffer in the receiver comes loose and the bolt won't come back far enough to lock or cycle the shell lifter. They also have a rubber grommet up in the front of the mag tube thats a piston buffer that melts and makes the gun look like you poured roofing tar in the front piston and cylinder assembly. They are beautiful pieces of crap.

Just some Dude not a smith by any means but when trying to get all 6000 parts together and into the action  a rubber band is your friend don't ask how I know LOL

Years ago (30+) my brother had a S&W 12 gauge pump shotgun. Don't know who made those for them, but it was a trouble free shotgun for him.

From the limited stuff that I've read that if its running right its not a bad gun but getting it to run is the thing I'm trying to accomplish

Well, his was a pump and yours is an auto loader.  Not much help.

I had one of the pumps. A LE trade-in, think I paid $200 for it with a rifle sight.  I shot it a couple of times and it worked, put it away and later traded it to my sister.

Justsomedude I got my parts in for my S&W 1000m the piston shock absorber washer and the shock absorber are self explanitioy but the piston connecting ring spring is a steel washer that I thought was an O ring and I take it goes into the groove on the front of the piston if you have a book or a drawing with a view of this gun would you check this for me please

The first time I had it apart it took me 2 days to put it back together the 2nd time it took 2 minutes now the test fire

That will take a while its winter here and I'm trying to find some 3 inch 12 gauge rounds I read that s what works in this gun and it doesn't like 2 3/4 rounds and thats all I have and the places that I've been looking don't have any ammo at all

Do you think you could do me a favor and take a few pictures of the valve thats in front of the piston? Its the part that removes after you unscrew the retaining cap on the mag tube. I have to make one and I need to see the vent passages. There should be a small hole that squirrels through it. Thats what I need to see.

I will do that when my daughter gets here to take the pictures do you want me to do the caliper for length and diameter

I actually found the other dimensions online but can't find a picture of the gas port anywhere. I even made this already.

there is a steel insert that goes through it but no gas hole if need be I will just send you this one to copy and send it back but the one you made sure looks the part

This thing actually looks like its 3 pieces the middle recessed part looks like its nylon

I was thinking why not just buy a new one then I looked on Numrich  and found out why

I test fired the shotgun today with the part that I made, just for kicks and I'll be damned if it didn't work just fine. Didn't seem overgassed either. I do appreciate your offer though.

no problem did you use 3 inch shells or 2 3/4

2 3/4. It was just some random shells that i have in my test fire ammo supply. Is yours having cycling issues?

I haven't fired it yet but reading about it people are saying that they wont cycle 2 3/4 rounds but I was wondering if they were about worn out at that point  I do know that every one thats been worked on has the seal melted like tar so at that point maybe they just wouldn't cycle the 2 3/4 but the extra push of the 3 inch let the gun work so there must be some sort of a round count that these things start to fail and this was supposed to be a skeet gun so I see a lot of rounds going down the pipe shooting skeet
