ECM Rifling with 3d print tools

AjamesAjames Posts: 42 Member
Goodday guys

Im reading into Ivan the trolls files about rifled barrels using the ECM technique. The files are a bit unclear at some parts and the videos I saw also dont tell it all. I want to begin my first FGC9 project and want to make a decent barrel with rifling. Was just wondering if somebody knows the process and maybe could help me explain some things or know another option to get decent rifling.

Kind regards

Sweet Jaysus! Buy a freakin' 9mm barrel blank from Numrich or some other barrel supplier and be done with it. Or buy a barrel liner and bore out an existing barrel to fit the liner dimensions. You'll be lots of $$$$ ahead and be able to hit the broad side of a barn while standing inside the barn. Or buy or build an EDM machining machine to do the work. Or build a cut rifling machine; lots of info on line for that. And they are easy to build and work well, too.

That ECM looks sketchy at best and you end up with building most of what you need to have a decent cut rifling machine, too. Not trying to discourage you, but I gotta ask 'Why reinvent the wheel when cheaper alternatives are readily available?'

Im in Europe so alot of these items are hard to get here. Ive been looking for machines as well but i cant find any clear instruction guides how to build one. If you have a good link or article about better faster options i would love to check them out. But the thing is its not only rifling I also have to tool the chamber part so the cartridge will fit in the barrel.

    Kind regards

Where in Europe may I ask ??  If you have to build yourselve I can see a massive LEGAL thunderstorm coming your way in most of our countries

On my own land I can do what I want. Also not really here for the legal or illegal thing i just want to learn how to machine a barrel with own equipment. In my country it is only considered a machined part and not a firearm part so its nothing illegal.

If you want to build your own machine try looking up Bill Webb's rifling machine. Check on you tube I know the complete video's are on there. If you want go to Guy Lutard's  web site and you can buy the videos and book together. Hope this helps a little. This is probably one of the easier off the machines to build.
