2020 Best buys

Soon, this year will be behind us.  Thankfully.  Still, many of us made some good buys, regardless.  At the moment in my memory, my best buy is a Star BM 9mm.  It's heavy, a scaled down 1911, but it's very accurate and well built.  It was in great condition and with a $25 pair of grips, suits me just fine. A $250  total investment, plus dealer log-in.   And yours?

This was a good year for guns.

#3 is never looking a gifted gun in the mouth. A sweet shooting .220 Swift given to me by a friend for guiding his son.

#4&5 were a combination of cool house gun and a nostalgic re-purchase.

Ruger PC Charger Pistol in 9mm.

    And
    Rossi .38 Spl.

It was a good year for me.  The best deal in general was that after buying an estate and culling the guns I later decided I didn’t want I actually made money and ended up with a bunch of free guns like the Springfield Armory  FAL, a cool little Rossi .38 lever gun, a cool custom BP rifle, a NICE .58 Hawken, a ton of ammo, reloading components and press/dies/etc and a big Liberty safe!

I also scored a HUGE bucket list gun, the pre-64 Winchester Model 88!  And of course the only .270 I’ve ever loved, a classic FN Commercial Mauser.  Then there was a world class Uberti Limited Edition 1873, one of the prettiest guns I’ve ever owned.  Some cool vintage 22s too.  I know there’s more but I’ll stop here for now...

    I envy that FAL.

Well there was the Dukes double rifle.
The foxy 20 gauge...wish I had found it decades ago.
    A little orphan Annie.
    And a S&W I've waited to find.

I would have never thought that would just fall on my lap like it did... 😱

I think the only thing I bought in 2020 was the Colorado state Patrol M&P 40

I don’t think I bought any guns this year. I wanted to get a Security Six but I can’t find one around here.

I would say the Mossberg 46M .22. It was like new condition and only made from 1940-45!!

Just realized, I didn't purchase a gun during 2020.  Was gifted and purchased enough reloading equipment to get started.

Mine was probably the S&W Model 10 triplets:

Indonesian surplus beat to heck .38 Specials. However, they were dirt cheap, and shoot like a dream. The snubbie is easily becoming a favorite gun.

Just wish I could get more primers so I could shoot them more

I picked up my Thompson Impact .50 Muzzle Loader for $206 shipped to my door a week before the season started, I thought that was pretty good.

My 6.5mm CM Savage High Country.  I had to have a tumor taken out of my head in November, but I am trying to work out a way to blood her on an exotic.

Forgotten Weapons guy says the Liberator is one of the most unpleasant handguns he has shot.  How's yours?

Meh. I don't consider it unpleasant, but I wouldn't say its fun either. Although built to the original specs, its put together better than the original with better steel. Which probably contributes to not completely sucking. I've heard reports of originals having enough flex that the seam in the grip flexes and pinches the shooter's hand! It was keyholing at 5 yards too. It is what it is, a replica of a firearm that's only interesting because of its history.

Best buy, gun wise, was probably my Glock 34 MOS. Really enjoy shooting that gun. The majority of my gun budget was spent on ammo and such this year.

It wasn't a bargain but it was a good price on a sig 1911 nightmare.

In addition to the Star, I bought a Colt Vest Pocket and the I frame nickel with MOP grips.  Keeping my pimp hand strong.

Did you get the full size or carry model?

Not a single solitary thing...other than a fly rod and reel that I really didn't need

Wife got me a fly reel for Christmas.  Think I let someone borrow my one and only fly rod, but have one on the way.  I'm not very good with it, but a Peacock Bass on one is a Blast

It is full size. I took a picture on my phone but for some reason I can't get it to download to my computer. I will keep trying, I don't want to pay a fine.

Probably my Henry .22 for $279 and M&P 2.0, in 45acp for $400.....thanks to my stimulus check.
But the most useful was a set of Lee 9mm dies.....which I’ve put to excellent use!

Guess it would be my Glock 22 police turn in for $341.00. Very good condition.
