I truly think a lot of vaccine places had Chick-Fli-A come in and show them how to make it efficient!  Glad to hear everyone's starting to get their vaccines!

Got my second shot of Moderna today. Gonna try to make it a good weekend regardless of the potential side effects.

So finally past most of the horse crap side effects. Chest pain and liver pain. That was what cause all the tests last week that came back negative. Doctor confirmed that I am not the only one that has complained of the pain.
So got the second shot late Wednesday, chest pain is back but at least subdued. Tylenol, water and sleep. Pfizer vaccine for those wondering.

North Carolina, as most Democrat Governor run states, is a **** mess.  They scheduled me for May and then I get an email about 4 days ago to “come in tomorrow”.  Like I have nothing better to do than be subject to their scheduling whims.

Anyway I took the first shot of Pfizer and was sore and achy overnight. Next morning I felt like hell but I got up, drank two cups of strong black coffee and headed to the range to do some training and by the time I got back 4 hours later I was fine.  Been felling “slow” for lack of a better word for a few days but hell I got **** to do so I just keep moving.  This too shall pass.

Got some good advice from my daughter’s boyfriend to literally punch the site of the shot repeatedly through the first day.  He said that’s what they had them do in the military with their anthrax shot to help circulation distribute the shot faster and kill the site soreness, and I’ll be dammed, within a few hours my shoulder didn’t hurt anymore.

Wish I had known about that. My arm is VERY sore this morning. Thankfully, that’s the only side effect so far.

Good tip about the punching in the arm. According to MY pediatrician (Yes, not my daughters', MINE; she has been able to keep me alive for 45 years with only a few stitches and ointments!) that pain is usually because a not-so-diligent application, but considering vaccinators are stinging dozens of arms everyday, it becomes an assembly line rather than personal care. Glad you're all getting your doses guys.

Still hoping to travel to Chile in May to get vaccinated, or at least the wife be able to do so IF they open back their borders (They have among the highest vaccination rates in the world but are facing a strong 2nd. wave among those still waiting for their shots) .
Apparently they'll allow me to "skip the line" even though I'm not a national, but will see. They're already vaccinating those born in '65 so pretty soon they'll be in our age range. Down here our chances are getting inyected with watered down soy sauce (Corrupt useless pinkos bought the worst performing Chinese crap for the highest price so they can get a secret VIP lot before local "FDA" approval for themselves. Plot blew out and press is calling it "The Vaccinegate")  in 2034 and I refuse to travel to Texas for a "tourist vaccination" (They seem to be allowing this) because of fear of staying there for good!.

If wife gets vaccinated in Chile, is growing a 2nd. wife a good or bad side effect?......just wondering...

You can start the “punching” anytime.  Sounds counterintuitive but it works!  Start light and just go for a few seconds and stop and then go back to it through the next few hours whenever you feel like it.  It just gets circulation going to the area to wash out the shot.

Did the military start doing anthrax shots again? They now think there’s a link between gulf war syndrome and some of the vaccines given and the anthrax vaccine is top of the list.

For those getting the vaccine does that mean you will be doing 2 COVID vaccines and a regular flu vaccine every year?
  • VarmintmistVarmintmist Posts: 8,286 Senior Member
Got #2 Pfizer on the 31st at 8A. Got a headache about 8P that was still there in the AM, felt a little hung over and shoulders were sore. Was good to go by 2P.

As to getting a regular covid poke.. Possible, probably a single shot if the strains are nasty not a double. I wouldnt have bothered except for some of the wonderful stuff I have inherited, I am in fair condition overall.
FIL has it now. He has been squirting uncontrollably for 6 days in the hospital with an IV to keep him hydrated. That will be a hard pass for me if possible.

Waiting for work (employer and customer) to require it.  I can get it now based on the city I am working in.  Supposedly there will be a mobile setup coming to the job site this month.  Still on the fence about it and we dont even know which vaccine it would be.

I got my 1st Moderna shot last Wednesday.  I had the most hamfisted injector (I wont call her a nurse, cuz I have doubts) ever.  The injection site started bleeding immediately, and she missed most of the blood with the bandaid.  AND... I developed a nasty hematoma around the injection site, that still has not faded over a week later.

Arm was sore for 2 days, and about 36 hours after injection I felt like crap and was just tired as hell.  I slept for 12.5 hours and ended up fine.

Pentagon Scientists Develop Implant To Go Under Skin To Detect Covid

Pentagon Scientists Develop Implant To Go Under Skin To Detect Covid

Scientists as the US Pentagon have developed a high-tech implant that can be placed under the skin to detect Covid-19.

The secretive Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA)has managed to come up with a 'sensor' that can be placed into someone's body to detect the deadly virus, along with a revolutionary 'filter' to remove Covid from the blood.

Retired Colonel Matt Hepburn, an army infectious disease physician, has explained how it all works in an interview with CBS' 60 Seconds

When he was recruited by DARPA eight years, he was told to 'take pandemics off the table'.

Hepburn said: "That was the beauty of the DARPA model. We challenge the research community to come up with solutions that may sound like science fiction. And we're very willing to take chances with high-risk investments that may not work. But if they do, we can completely transform the landscape."

Showing CBS 'a few current projects', Hepburn unveiled a tissue-like gel, which has been engineered to continuously test the blood.

    "It's a sensor," he said.

"That tiny green thing in there, you put it underneath your skin and what that tells you is that there are chemical reactions going on inside the body and that signal means you are going to have symptoms tomorrow."

When asked if it was an 'actual transmitter', Hepburn added: "It's like a 'check engine' light."

This means sailors would be able to get a signal if Covid-19 was detected in their blood, before self-administering a blood draw to test themselves on site.

"We can have that information in three to five minutes," Hepburn said.

"As you truncate that time, as you diagnose and treat, what you do is you stop the infection in its tracks."

DARPA - which was set up during the Cold War more than 60 years ago - has also devised a revolutionary filter that can be hooked up to a dialysis machine to remove the virus.

    Credit CBS
    Credit: CBS

Hepburn said you simply put the filter on a dialysis machine so 'pass someone's blood through', which then 'takes the virus out, and puts the blood back in'.

According to CBS, Covid-19 has infected more than 250,000 Defense Department personnel and their dependents around the world.

With the death toll still continuing to rise, the Pentagon has been jump-starting programmes that might help save lives.

The city set up a vaccination program for the job site for yesterday.  First it was supposed to be the J&J shot, but that was canceled.  They switched to the Pfizer shot, but the second dose would have to be done later at a different location.  I had one guy in my crew that was going to get it and the other crews all had a couple each that were going to get it, but plans got canceled on us.  Someone from another contractor went into anaphylactic shock after the shot.

Im not opposed to the vaccine.  I just dont really trust it right now given the issues happening and the unknows about its actual effectiveness.  It still seems really rushed through and "forced".
