Cold snap!

Yesterday a cold front blew through and iced everything up. 

Temps continue to drop, and it is supposed to start snowing tomorrow and supposed to hit a low of 4.... FOUR DEGREES on Monday. 

So.... time to make chili!


Pound of ground, pound of chili grind, onion, bacon, garlic, venison sausage, beer, chili powder, and a quarter pound of homemade smoked brisket.

    I've got some stuff for the crock pot here. Pork butt, beans, chili's, etc..

    Don't know the temp. I think I saw a penguin thismorning.

    Tomorrow....-6F
    Sunday...-11F.
    Monday....it should break 10F.

    Welcome to the "Banana Belt" of Colorado. 

    I've chased elk at -26F. It seemed fun at the time.

    I looked up the temp on Thursday where I lived in Montana. 

    -27 deg

    The coldest I’ve ever been in was -60 with wind chill. 

    A bit painful. But, I prefer it to 135 deg in Kuwait City with 90% humidity!!

    The ice is supposed to happen here Monday evening. Thankfully, the temps won’t be THAT low. Possibly hit the teens in the northern part of the state.

    We are at -30 right now, wind chill yesterday was -50. should be above zero for daytime temps next week.

    I'll take the cold, I have a good coat. 

    Heat, on the other hand, much above 65 and I start complaining.

    Our fire chief said a guy got drunk a couple days ago and went in the ditch and had a compound fracture of his leg, called his buddy who was still at the bar to come and get him, got out of his vehicle to wait for him, and when the guy did not show up 30 minutes later he called 911, it was -21, he was not in good shape when they picked him up.

    -3F now, 3 hours after sunrise. Supposed to hit +10F around 2PM. Snow forecasted this afternoon. Low tonight of -15F, with a high tomorrow of 0F, with more snow. I've skiied and elk hunted in much worse,  but really glad I'm not now. The fireplace and coffee pot is really hitting the spot this morning.  Biscuits and gravy on their way.

    Florida is not perfect, but I am damn happy to be here, especially in the winter. Was a bit unusual for February, but it was 80 degrees here on Thursday and melted an Amazon delivery of chocolate covered orange jellied candy.....damn, who would have figured?

    Since last night. Not feet like when I lived in upstate NY, but trying to stay home. Too many people from other states that do NOT know how to drive in snow or the ones that do live here thinking their SUV will save them.

    Temps are in the single digits today, with blowing snow.  Driving conditions are bad, with darn near white out  conditions.  It's a good day to stay home and stay warm.

    Oh man
    Today I was outside scrubbing five kayaks and the trailer.  Got a sunburn even though  it's only 84 here

    Wind chills here have been sub-zero for days...still getting an inch+ of lake effect every day for the last 11 days...looking forward to the temps getting up into the 20s again....

    I'm generally fairly cold tolerant but I just filled my Yukon with gas and my fingers actually hurt before I was done.

    In the 20s here heading to single digits. Water troughs are frozen and needing attention.

    Been sleeting for the last few hours, and it just switched to snow. Should get 2-6 inches of snow tonight and have a HIGH temp of 17 degrees tomorrow. 

    The roads are skating rinks and they are predicting rolling blackouts in areas of the state.
