I've lived in Colorado Springs for 17 years. In that time I've seen two 12" snows. And one 22" snow. Yep..the 22" happended on the day we moved. Moving, under the best of circumstances sucks.

Hard to believe how much pure CRAP you collect over the years that gets squirreled away in corners. Filled up 3 6-12' dump trailer loads so far. Will need 1 more for the furniture we are not taking. All pure junk.

Now I get to start collecting new crap.... :D

I *really* don't want to move again. Won't say that I won't, but neither my wife nor I want to.

6+ months after our last move I'm still putting things away, and trying to find places to put other stuff that I really shouldn't have taken with...at least you have the wisdom to dump before you move. I dumbly paid to have some things moved that I'm now just trying to get rid of.

And this new place is larger, with more storage, etc...I still feel more crowded. They say that with age comes wisdom? I just got a whole lot dumber...

We have moved 2 times since 2017.  I does indeed suck.

I haven't moved in over 20 years. But because I've owned a truck and trailer my entire adult life..... I hate when my friends move.

Back in college, I could move everything in one trip on my own in just my truck.
Before I got married, I could move everything I owned by myself and with just my truck.

Now?  I would rather the house burned and just start over than try and move all this crap.

Last moved in June 2004. The other day I found a box that was in that move and hadn't been touched since. My next move will most likely be to the funny farm or in the back of the coroners van.

My wife and I have been working for the last week helping some good friends move back to Colorado from South Carolina. Just helping someone else move is a huge undertaking! Much as I would like to leave Commierado, I don't think I could go through another move.

Told my wife we are not taking anything that has not been used in the last 15 years unless it had value. Money value, not "Liam played with that when he was little" value.

Yeah, recently moved. Pain even with paid help.

Best part is new place has a gun room and a separate man cave for loading and what not.

My first 17 years of marriage, I loved 17 times. It wasn’t that bad as we didn’t really have much.
I just recently moved after 10 years in one place. Holy BALLS, that sucked!!
It’ll be at least 10 more until I move again.

I have been in the same place 39 years ...... it is tough enough just living here let alone think about moving it all out .

After 11 years in a cozy two bedroom house we moved to a five bedroom mausoleum and filled it.
Going on 30 odd years here now, I am staying put.

I kind of like moving precisely because it forces me to get rid of crap.

Of course, some of my happiest times were living out of an oversized suitcase and bouncing from hotel to hotel for a year plus.

Really if it weren't for shooting and camping gear, I could go back to living out of a suitcase or two pretty easily.

I have moved for work more times than I can actually remember, sometimes having to maintain two residences at a time.  In one particularly bad period of 2 years we moved 7 times.  My wife is an EXPERT on moves...

I have a buddy who is an extreme minimalist. He buys and sells houses on the side. He'll buy a nice house that needs some work, get it cheap, live in it 3-5 years and fix it up, sell it for a profit and buy another one. As such, he has learned to keep his "shtuff" to a extreme minimum and mostly lives out of boxes. Until recently his only piece of furniture was a bed. I gave him one of my old recliners, so he now has 2 pieces of furniture. He has one plate, one bowl, one spoon, one fork etc. He just washes them after every meal. He keeps very little food in the house and goes to the grocery store just about every day and buys just what he needs for the next 24 hours. He lives in a nice 3 bedroom, 2 bath home but can pack up and move by himself in one day. That's the opposite of me... it would take an army and several truck and trailer loads to move my stuff after 20+ years at the same place and after inheriting all dad's junk...

I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess your buddy is single.

We moved from a 1K sqft 2 bedroom house to a 2100 sqft 4 (or 5, depending on how you count em) BR house. It even has a decked attic with plenty of storage space. I told my wife when we moved in we'd never fill all the space. She must have taken that as a challenge. Five years later, we haven't had room for a spare toothpick for the past 3.

My wife's sister calls our house a "museum". She's not wrong. Artwork, bric-a-brac from our travels are everywhere. I did most of the packing when I fled Commiefornia in '17 - but I had all the Greek vases and other extremely fragile stuff packed by a pro - and hauled all that in the car. Yea, guns and ammo were a pain - and heavy. In the car they went. The Aughkstra (Stained glass window) went into a crate that I built myself, and it rode behind the front seats in the car as well. My old computer rode in the car too - I literally could NOT get one more thing into that poor car by the time I was finished (over)loading it!
Then there's all my costume stuff, jewelry, tools, etc, etc. Movers took that. Thank Goddess I didn't have to bring the dishes - we already had an inherited set in Florida, so the California set went to a very grateful neighbor.

Zorb, don't even get me started on dishes. Without hyperbole, my wife likely has at least 6 complete services for 8. (And I mean complete services). Most of it is fairly antique and likely worth more than the contents of my gun safe....by a wide margin. But, by God, I'm holding the line....I have one favorite coffee cup and a plastic "glass" that I'm not afraid to use. She better not "GoodWill" them.
