Songs from times past that would be banned today

Ahab the Arab by Ray Stevens is one that comes to mind.  Someone would probably get apoplectic over Gitarzan, too, although I don't know why.

Any others?

    Larry Verne: Mr. Custer

    What am I doin' here?
Please Mr. Custer, I don't want to go
Hey, Mr. Custer, please don't make me go
I had a dream last night about the comin' fight
    Somebody yelled "attack!"
And there I stood with a arrow in my back.
Please Mr. Custer, I don't want to go (forward ho!) aw
Look at them bushes out there
    They're moving and there's a **** behind every one
Hey, Mr. Custer-you mind if I be excused the rest of the afternoon?
    Hey charlie, duck yer head!
Hm, you're a little bit late on that one, charlie
    Ooh, I bet that smarts!
    What am I doin' here?
Please Mr. Custer, I don't want to go
Listen, Mr. Custer, please don't make me go
There's a redskin a-waitin' out there, just fixin' to take my hair
A coward I've been called 'cause I don't want to wind up dead or bald
Please Mr. Custer, I don't want to go (forward ho) aw
I wonder what the **** word for friend is
Let's see friend kemo sabe, that's it
    Kemo sabe!
    Hey out there, kemo sabe!
    Nope, that itn't it
    Look at them out there
They're runnin' around like a bunch of wild Indians
    Heh, heh, heh
Nah, this ain't no time for jokin'

Case in point: the word that is being deleted by the PC editor rhymes with 'engine'

Bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb Iran
    Bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb

    Let's take a stand
    Bomb Iran
    Our country's got a feelin'
Really hit the ceilin', bomb Iran

Went to a mosque, gonna throw some rocks
Tell the Ayatollah, "Gonna put you in a box!"
    Bomb Iran. Bomb, bomb, bomb
    Bomb Iran...

I don't see that song being too popular today. 🤣🤣🤣

Any songs about under aged children.

Sweet Little Sixteen -- Chuck Berry
    Sweet Little Sixteen
    She's got the grown-up blues
    Tight dresses and lipstick
    She's sportin' high heel shoes
    Oh, but tomorrow morning
She'll have to change her trend
    And be sweet sixteen
    And back in class again
I don't see this one being without controversy.

Along the same lines, Jerry Lee Lewis' High School Confidential
(movie scene from Great Balls of Fire) starring Dennis Quaid and Winona Ryder.
...Well, now let me tell you something, baby, I'ma gonna give you some good news
Look a-here, sweet mama, let's burn off both our shoes
Well, my heart's a-beatin' rhythm and my soul is singin' the blues...

Of course, Jerry Lee generated his own controversy by marrying his 13 year old second cousin Myra Gale Brown.

Kung Fu Fighting by Carl Douglas, 1974
There were funky China men from funky Chinatown
They were chopping them up, they were chopping them down
It's an ancient Chinese art and everybody knew their part
From a feint into a slip and a kicking from the hip

Not hard to figure out this one. It was a good song!
Carl Douglas had just discovered Bruce Lee movies and wrote a song about it.

Dude Looks Like A Lady -- Aerosmith
...Never judge a book by its cover
Or who you gonna love by your lover?
Sayin' love put me wise to her love in disguise
She had the body of a Venus
    Lord, imagine my surprise...
    Any questions? 😂

    Turning Japanese -- The Vapors
    I've got your picture
    Of me and you

    You wrote "I love you"
    I wrote "Me too"

I sit there staring, and there's nothing else to do...
The meaning is pretty clear and it was a popular song that most didn't know what the heck it was about 🤣🤣

    Kissin' Cousins -- Elvis Presley
Well, I've got a gal, she's as cute as she can be
She's a distant cousin, but she's not too distant with me

    [Chorus 1]
    We'll kiss all night
    I'll squeeze her tight
But we're kissin' cousins, and that's what makes it all right
All right, all right, all right

Me So Horny -- 2 Live Crew

This one was so bad, it had a large segment of the asian community in an uproar. If you want to listen to it just go to YouTube. I won't be posting it on here.
Those that didn't hate it outright, loved it and that made it popular on the radio for a while in '89 and through the early 90's.

I like some of Frank Zappa's music. Likely a time period/age thing. Plenty of his lyrics are vulgar. He didnt get a lot of radio play. I guess that was the old style censor as opposed to banning.

Not a prefered genre for me, but I think quite a bit of rap music makes the old border line, brazen stuff pretty tame.

"Brown Sugar"....Rolling Stones. Look up the lyrics if you can't understand Mick's muddled (intentionally?) diction.

    Cherry Bomb 🍒-- The Runaways
(Cherie Currie, Joan Jett and Lita Ford up front, Sandy West on Drums with Jackie Fox on Bass)
...Hey street boy, what's your style
Your dead end dreams don't make you smile
I'll give ya something to live for
Have ya, grab ya til you're sore...

An all underage girl rock band singing about rebellion and promiscuity. Obviously, the cherry bomb carries a double meaning here. With today's PC, this won't fly.

Oingo Boingo, Little Girls.  Used to randomly send a link to that one to a friend that in his past got tricked into a date with someone way younger than they claimed.  He knew something was up fairly quickly though.

That video is a good precautionary tale of what not to do! The second verse says it all.
...They don't care about my inclinations
They're not frightened by my revelations
Uh oh (uh oh), take a second (take a second)
Uh oh (uh oh), it's a mistake (it's a mistake)
Uh oh (uh oh), I'm in trouble (I'm in trouble)
Uh oh (uh oh), the little girl was just too little

Too little, too little, too little, too little...

Btw, you can add George Michaels and R. Kelly to that list. I won't even bother explaining why

Strangely, there's nothing wrong with the song. In fact, it won an Academy Award for Best Song in 1947. Unfortunately, the Walt Disney production of Song Of The South has a lot of imagery that just doesn't sit well with today's audiences and that song is forever linked to the movie. Pretty sad, it's a cool song.
The song and it's video clips are still used in numerous Disney Montages.

Young Girl -- Gary Puckett (1968)
    Young girl
    Get out of my mind
My love for you is way out of line
    Better run, girl
    You're much too young, girl

    [Verse 1]
With all the charms of a woman
You've kept the secret of your youth
You led me to believe you're old enough
    To give me love
And now it hurts to know the truth
    [Verse 2]
    Beneath your perfume and make-up
You're just a baby in disguise
And though you know that it's wrong to be
    Alone with me
That come on look is in your eyes
    [Verse 3]
So hurry home to your mama
I'm sure she wonders where you are
Get out of here before I have the time
    To change my mind
Cause I'm afraid we'll go too far

At least he gave fair warning... dang! It was 1968.
